Iceland rapped over whale hunting (by 25 nations)
Diplomats from 25 nations including Britain have delivered a letter of protest to Iceland's government over its resumption of commercial whaling.

British ambassador to Reykjavik, Alp Mehmet, was joined by counterparts from European and American countries.

The diplomatic "demarche" says Iceland should respect the global moratorium on commercial whaling and reverse its "unnecessary" decision of last month.

Iceland says it has received support from some other countries.

The demarche follows other diplomatic moves, including the summoning of Iceland's ambassador to London by the UK's marine affairs minister, Ben Bradshaw, and a protest by the US ambassador to Reykjavik.

"I view the taking of a whale’s life in the same manner I would view the taking of a human life. It is murder, and it is a crime to slaughter such socially complex intelligent and sensitive sentient beings. The method of killing is torturous and grossly inhumane. We would never tolerate a domestic animal to suffer such a long and painful death. Every person who regards themselves as civilized must express their disgust and their revulsion against the whale killing atrocities of Iceland, Norway, the Faeroes, and Japan. These people who practice this horrific serial killing of whales are the most barbarous representatives of humanity upon this planet and cast shame upon their nations."
- Captain Paul Watson
Founder and President of Sea Shepherd

3. Thank you. I was driven to use one of the e-mails offered at the site
to send off my opinion of their whale slaughtering, as if it will help.

At some point, you get so hopeless, you almost stop caring if your protest matters, as long as you get a chance to register it.

It appears these clowns are still slightly concerned about world opinion. I utterly dispise their choice to take up a practice they KNOW they have never missed during the time they refrained. Hatefull greedy, sadistdic assholes.

I am so glad you posted the seashepherd link. It's wonderful finding out they are out there.

4. Iceland should remove this blemish.
They are progressive on plenty of other things, like geothermal energy. Its a shame to have their image soiled by being involved in things like whaling.

5. Again...how soon they forget...

This month is your 20 year anniversary of the above, Iceland.
