Santorum: Pension investments under Casey tied to terror

U.S. Sen. Rick Santorum contends state Treasurer Bob Casey Jr. is ignoring the investment of state pension funds in companies that do business in countries that sponsor terrorism and genocide.

Casey says the claim is false.

“This is a direct link between someone who is not doing their job and protecting America,” Santorum, a Republican, said during a telephone interview Monday.

Casey, a Democrat, said he’s been working for months on the matter. He accused Santorum and the Bush administration of failing to help by establishing a list of questionable companies. The treasurer’s campaign said Santorum took more than $54,000 in contributions from employees or political action committees tied to some of the companies.

“Last week, he was blaming me for nuclear war,” Casey said, referring to a Santorum campaign commercial that links his opposition to spaced-based missile defense system to a possible nuclear strike on America. “His claims are getting crazier. I was saying crazier by the week, but they’re getting crazier by the hour now.”

for a state senate race from a group called "Mainstream Republicans of Washington". I guess there are republicans out there who would like people to know they are not all batshit crazy.

Their candiadte Dave Schmidt voted for a few eco-friendly items.

The GOP is pouring money into the Bellevue-Kirkland congressional race. This in a traditionally guaranteed republican majority area.

4. Sorry, time's past...
I guess there are republicans out there who would like people to know they are not all batshit crazy.

They had 6-12 years to let us know they weren't batshit crazy, yet they chose to remain silent. Silent, I suppose, for as long as they were getting theirs. Now that the wheels are coming off the "Contract on America" wagon, they want to let us know?

The only questioning voice from a Republican I have ever heard was from a GOPer in Utah after the 2000 election. He posted a letter of concern on the Internet(s) that the Republicans should not win like they did in Florida. That was several years ago, and I have not been able to find it since.

"Mainstream Republicans?" If there is such an animal, it should have reared it head long before now...

6. Santorum isn't going to leave the Senate when he loses!
He's going to be dragged out by two men in white coats. Lil' Ricky will also have a special jacket on, they call it a straight jacket.
Anyone know Santorum's email address? Let's send him a mp3 or some other music file of Napoleon the 14th "They're Coming to Take Me Away, HA HA!"
Seems quite fitting given the tone of the Santorum campaign's tone. Wouldn't you agree?

8. Why are they even giving this ridiculous line of reasoning air time?
It's monumentally stupid.

Santorum's desperation stinks to high heaven, but this borders on an insane argumnent.
