Iraq: PM Accuses Neighbours Of Backing al-Qaeda
Iraqi prime minister Nouri al-Maliki has denounced links between "Iraqi terrorist groups and neighbouring states." Speaking to journalists in Baghdad, al-Maliki stopped short of naming the states which he accused of "collaborating with terrorists but the reference to Iran and Syria seemed clear.

Several days ago a Kurdish television had accused the Pasdaran (revolutionary guards) of training Arab and Afghan terrorists in western Iran to allow them to infiltrate Iraq.

Al-Maliki divided insurgents and terrorists into two groupings "followers of al-Qaeda" and "Baathists" loyal to Saddam Hussein and said the recent wave of violence would not be possible "without the support of foreign countries."
