Al-Jazeera airs more sniper video
More video has aired, allegedly showing Iraqi snipers targeting American troops.

The video shows at least three soldiers falling to the ground after apparently being shot by snipers in separate attacks. It's unclear when or where the attacks took place. The footage was stamped with the emblem of the Islamic Army in Iraq, a major Sunni Arab insurgent group.

CNN aired sniper video last week. The network has defended that as part of an effort to show what it calls the "unvarnished truth" about the war.

California Congressman Brian Bilbray has criticized CNN for airing what he terms "a terrorist snuff film."

1. Congressman Brian Bilbray puts head in Sand---- Denies Reality
Edited on Sun Oct-22-06 08:43 PM by saigon68
He thinks war is some kind of romatic Scarlet O'Hara play, where beatifully uniformed men ride off to battle on white horses.

He would love to draft your kids to fight for his Hateful right wing NEOCON Agenda

Check out this ASSCLOWN'S HOMEPAGE.

HE NEEDS TO PONDER THE FOLLOWING
from "THE WALL" BY AL HAMBIDGE JR.

"And as for those government bozos who say that those who question their plans and motives is unpatriotic and aiding the enemy, well, they can just kiss my ass."

I stared at the ground. Thirty years of fear, of doubt, of anger, of hurt, of rage, was coming out of him in a rush. It made me uncomfortable, but I couldn't move from that spot; I wanted him to continue. He seemed to sense this.

"You know what really galls me? How those that seem to yell loudest for war have never seen one. They've never seen a buddy disappear from the waist up after a shell hit, then see his legs stand there for a moment before falling over. They never saw a friend all psyched up about going home tomorrow after finishing his tour get hit in the belly with shrapnel, see his guts spill out, then watch him try to gather up his intestines lying in the dirt.

"They never saw what napalm does do a little girl's skin. They never saw a 19-year-old from Iowa screaming and writhing on the ground because a mine blew his legs off. They never saw a man take a bullet through the brain, then watch his body flop around on the ground for a minute or so because it doesn't realize he's dead. They never put pieces of someone into a bag, not knowing who it was until you read the tags, because there wasn't any face left to go along with the other parts. They haven't seen the shit I've seen, and they want to do it all over again. Those bastards!

3. Gee, what would I do if foreign troops invaded my country?
A man's gotta do what a man's gotta do, I'm afraid.

4. Bilbray at age 55 is apparently a DRAFT DODGER
And like Cheney and the Chimp doesn't want unpleasantness shown, for fear it may mislead a few rustics not to join for the Bennies.

LOL

5. Showing Americans what was happening in Vietnam ended that war...
If it takes sniper videos for Americans to get a clue now, so be it. We should never look away from truth, no matter who tells it, and no matter how harsh that truth is.

6. Would you apply the same standard to the movie "silent scream"
The... um... poor taste, inherent in the movie hardened my pro choice views. I find it plausible that this could, in fact will, do the same for war support.

I hope they are encouraged to sign up and go experience it for themselves.

12. I'd rather no one experienced it.

The psychology of seeing our kids shot on TV may encourage a desire for revenge, which does not serve the anti-war goal.

Don't be so quick. It might very well be a domestic psyop.

14. No, people need to see, actually see, what it is they're guilty of aiding
and abetting. They need to see what they are so complacently sending other people's children into. They need a frigging good does of the real world.

Then, if they still support this shit, they need to suit up.

13. I am in agreement with you. Won't watch but they need to be shown
Have people actually SEE with their own little eyes that war is not a game, is not waving flags and sporting ribbons, that it is painful, very painful. War is hell and too many do not believe that it should be the absolute last thing to happen and the first thing to stop. Move movies, photos are needed, more stories from returning soldiers too.

8. I won't talk about showing the tapes....
We can't control what any media outlet does with tape.

I only want to point out how skilled sniping can make the whole mess worse. We need to get out NOW!

Once the insurgents/freedom fighters/bad guys/militias/whoever understand how effective and demoralizing sniping can be, this whole clusterfuck could become..... whatever lies beyond clusterfuck.

They don't need proper sniper nest... the Americans just move around until the shooters get a nice clean shot with an easy exfiltration.

The longer we stay, the more the lesson is driven home to insurgents/freedom fighters/bad guys/militias that a great Army can be hamstrung with a few rifles with scopes and some steady hands.
