(Oliver) Stone, Par return to 9/11 trenches (Teams with PT911 Nowrasteh)
http://www.variety.com/article/VR1117951956.html?categoryid=13&cs=1

After steering clear of political controversy with 9/11 heroism tale "World Trade Center," Oliver Stone and Paramount Pictures are venturing into edgier territory with "Jawbreaker." Pic will focus on America's response to the terrorist attacks with the invasion of Afghanistan and hunt for 9/11 mastermind Osama Bin Laden.

Cyrus Nowrasteh, whose most recent credit was the controversial ABC miniseries "The Path to 9/11," is set to write a second draft of "Jawbreaker." Script is based in part on a memoir of the same name by Gary Bernsten, the CIA's pointman during the invasion, who coordinated the efforts of the CIA and Special Operations Forces to end Taliban rule.

Stone and Par bought the book months ago and kept it hush-hush so that "World Trade Center" could open unencumbered in the U.S. and overseas. A first draft was written by Ralph Pezzullo, who co-wrote "Jawbreaker" with Bernsten.

With "World Trade Center" on track to gross upward of $125 million worldwide, Par was eager to take the subject to its next logical step.

<snip>

But Stone, an outspoken critic of Bush's decision to invade Iraq, said Bernstein's tome does look skeptically at the situation, too. "Gary might be a defender of the administration, but he certainly had very clear criticisms of bureaucratic snafus in Afghanistan," said Stone.

:wtf:

1. I have read Jawbreaker and the first time into Afghanistan during
Clinton's term was maybe 50 pages of the book. The vast majority of the book was after 9-11. Wonder how Nowrasteh will blame that on Clinton. :grr:

2. Bernstein is vehement against Clinton as is Michael Scheuer
Many CIA officers in the field, including Gary Bernsten, who was assigned to hunt bin Laden, blame officials in Washington.

"CIA provided an American president, first Bill Clinton, multiple opportunities to capture or kill bin Laden," Bernsten said. "We provided those opportunities, tactical opportunities which were not taken."

And if I'm remembering correctly though Bernstein was bitter about not getting more troops at Tora Bora he refused to blame Bush.

4. What he says in the book and on TV are two different things
in the book he blames the "11th floor" of the CIA headquarters. On TV he blames Clinton. At Tora Bora it was the "11th Floor" again that did not force the issue of ground troops...

5. Stone's on the wrong side of history.
Stupid jerk veers to the right, just as it's going out of fashion.

6. Cyrus Nowrasteh = How does this dickhead get the 2nd script job??
Sounds like the studio wasn't too happy with the first version, which is closer to the book, so they then sent in the Xtian Fundy Wacko to soften and turn it into a Clinton-bashing affair.

Count me out on anything that is even touched by Cyrus Nowrasteh.
