Kleeb and Smith go toe-to-toe

SCOTTSBLUFF, Neb. - The U.S. Senate race between Ben Nelson and Pete Ricketts took a side seat Sunday in this Panhandle town to the warm-and-getting hotter 3rd District congressional race.

A packed crowd of about 250 gathered to watch Republican Adrian Smith and Democrat Scott Kleeb exchange verbal blows over abortion, their Nebraska experience and out-of-state money.

That was at least 75 to 100 more than the number who watched the debate about 30 minutes earlier between Nelson and Ricketts. Both were held at the University of Nebraska Panhandle Extension and Research Center.

The debates were the final ones in both races before the Nov. 7 election.

I saw they also had an article about how Smith is winning the money battle. That was the other way around last time I looked. I saw a Kleeb Ad last time I was at my parent's house last weekend. Too bad the sound was off or I might be able to tell you if it was good or not.

Or, if there really is a God, it's not the same Kleeb?

Or maybe OUR Kleeb is like Billy Carter, or Clinton's brother what's-his-face?

9. What are Scott's chances?

He's the first out-of-state candidate I ever donated to. I've met him and was very impressed.

I hope he's able to pull this off. I know he's working quite hard.
