Rendell camp: GOP governors group has deserted Swann

By John L. Micek Call Harrisburg Bureau HARRISBURG -- A Republican Governors' Association decision to bypass Pennsylvania for a special outreach program triggered squabbling between the state's gubernatorial candidates.

The governors' group offered free airfare and hotel rooms to party loyalists willing to campaign for Republicans in Iowa, Maine, Oregon, Illinois, Arkansas and Michigan, according to a letter mailed its supporters Monday.

Pennsylvania's omission prompted the Rendell camp to suggest Swann's been abandoned by the national group. Swann trails Rendell by double-digits in polls.

"It's a bad year for Republicans," Rendell spokesman Dan Fee said. "They have to go where they even have a chance of winning."

3. Not surprised
Though as someone working for him I can't say I'm overly glad. There is talk that he will win by at least 20 points. I didn't think it possible but he may win by that margin and come close to flipping the legislature.
