1. Abramoff was a constant Rove visitor at the WH
but Tony Snow, ex freeper, will assure you, it was only to pray for the poor.

5. Th press givth, the press taketh away.
Once again, the press does its job in revealing a sleazy story about the GOP. But because it IS the GOP, the press will now intentionally let this story die -- unlike, say, the White House Travel office "scandal" under the Clintons, which got endless columns of 'follow-up.'

This way, the GOP can say, "That's all old news -- it's been covered to death in the New York Times" while the Times and others can say, "Whattya mean we didn't cover it? We covered it. We covered it for a whole two days."

6. Here's the Reuters version: Abramoff had more White House ties

Abramoff had more White House ties

Fri Sep 29, 2006 01:55 AM ET

By Joanne Kenen and Thomas Ferraro

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Disgraced lobbyist Jack Abramoff had hundreds more contacts with top White House officials than those Bush administration officials had previously acknowledged, according to a congressional report to be released on Friday.

The report by the House Government Reform Committee, a copy of which was obtained by Reuters, said the panel found about 485 contacts between Abramoff and his associations and the White House, including 10 with Karl Rove, who is President George W. Bush's top political adviser. The committee based its findings on 14,000 pages of e-mails and billing records spanning three years ending in 2003, the committee report said.

The White House challenged the credibility of the report, saying it was based on material originally generated by Abramoff. Abramoff and associates have pleaded guilty to conspiracy, fraud and related crimes in an influence-peddling scandal that reached into the U.S. Congress.

"The billing records that are the basis for this report are widely regarded as fraudulent in how they misrepresent Abramoff's activities and level of access. There is no reason why they should suddenly be viewed as credible," White House spokeswoman Dana Perino said.

13. White House discounts contacts
Says the basis for the report is based mostly on stuff provided by Abramoff, and we all know what a criminal that guy is.

And no, before you ask, the White House still will not be coming out with its own records. National security, aids terrorists, fightin' them over there, ad nauseam.

7. Oh gee, so now there's a report about something we already know
(but it wasn't official because there wasn't a report to make it so).

And screw the NYT. They are so complicit in bringing us to the point we are today.

Torture anyone? Now watch this drive...

Convicted Lobbyist Jack Abramoff Team Had 485 Contacts With White House, Report Says

WASHINGTON Sep 29, 2006 (AP)— Jack Abramoff had hundreds of contacts with White House officials but they brought mixed results for the convicted lobbyist's clients, according to a congressional report.

The draft report of the House Government Reform Committee said the documents largely Abramoff's billing records and e-mails listed 485 lobbying contacts with White House officials over three years, including 10 with top Bush aide Karl Rove.

The report said that of the 485 contacts listed, 345 were described as meetings or other in-person contacts; 71 were described as phone conversations and 69 were e-mail exchanges.

"It is shocking and deeply disturbing that this admitted and proven liar ripped off his clients by over-billing and over-selling his supposed influence with any number of policymakers," Dana Perino, deputy White House press secretary, said Thursday.

----

So there is your spin- no matter how often he talked directly to the White House the Bush administration never really gave him anything. This of course is a lie-what really happened is that Abramoff took the Indian money and didn't do anything for them but still was in contact with the White House. The ruse of lobbying was used to cover for their regular contact (K Street project).

11. So will anything come of this revelation?
Will Abramoff give up all he knows for a lighter prison sentence?

12. Shocking coverage on GMA this morning.
After they talked about the 480+ contacts, they showed Scotty's clip saying that Abramoff had only been at a couple WH holiday receptions and GWB saying he barely remembered having a photo taken with him. How'd that slip by the loyalty monitor?
