Edited on Thu Sep-28-06 10:56 AM by IanDB1
My guess is it's probably his personal stash of heroin.

But just in case, let's all go out and buy as much Cipro as we can, so hopefully there won't be enough left to treat Cornyn.

That's a satirical riff.

30. The surprise is that they still haven't caught the first guys
This can't be the surprise. They'd want to show that we're safer with them in office, not remind everyone that they still haven't found who sent those original anthrax letters highlighting the piss poor job they've done on domestic terrorism.

This is a wingnut off the reservation from either the left or the right, but not on Karl's payroll.

Edited on Thu Sep-28-06 05:02 PM by calimary
stuffers are safer. This White House has made the world safer for them. NOT for us.

In fact, this just made me realize that they're all actually telling the truth when they say "we're safer." The operative word being "we're." They're talking about THEMSELVES. They HAVE INDEED made the world safer for themselves. It's safer now to torture without impunity. It's safer to lie, threaten, cheat, rig elections, intimidate media people and anyone in the opposition - especially those who'd lead the effort to hold them to account. It's safer for the plunderers, rapists, treason-meisters, Constitution violators, bullies, and war criminals. It's safer for pirates and profiteers. The brakes are off. The law's been gutted. The Constitution's in tatters. The Democrats for the most part have had their spines, claws, and teeth surgically removed. The media's in shackles (or just owned, outright). And the people are scared stupid.

Why WOULDN'T their world seem safer now? It's the one thing they're being completely truthful about.

"It does not affect your daily life very much if your neighbor marries a box turtle. But that does not mean it is right. ... Now you must raise your children up in a world where that union of man and box turtle is on the same legal footing as man and wife."

also this is the guy who rationalized violence against judges, right?

"I don't know if there is a cause-and-effect connection but we have seen some recent episodes of courthouse violence in this country. Certainly nothing new, but we seem to have run through a spate of courthouse violence recently that's been on the news and I wonder whether there may be some connection between the perception in some quarters on some occasions where judges are making political decisions yet are unaccountable to the public, that it builds up and builds up and builds up to the point where some people engage in - engage in violence."

and Sandra Day O'Connor had this to say about him, right?

"It doesn't help when a high-profile senator suggests there may be a connection between violence against judges and decisions that the senator disagrees with."

28. from Wikipedia:
In June 2004, the following remarks on same-sex marriage by Cornyn were quoted by The Washington Post. They have often been used as a source of ridicule on such programs as The Daily Show:
"It does not affect your daily life very much if your neighbor marries a box turtle. But that does not mean it is right. ... Now you must raise your children up in a world where that union of man and box turtle is on the same legal footing as man and wife."

42. Well, two bits of bad news
1) It was a hoax.
2) Some intern was the one who got stuck opening the envelope.

Hopefully, the New York Post will print Cornyn's home address (a matter of public record, anyway) and whatever Patriot did this will have better luck next time.

That's a satirical riff.

Senator's office hit by anthrax hoax

By Todd J. Gillman

The Dallas Morning News

(MCT)

WASHINGTON - An anthrax hoax at Sen. John Cornyn's office left aides stuck in their offices for about 45 minutes at lunchtime Thursday, after an intern opened an envelope containing a small amount of powder.

Tests quickly determined that it wasn't dangerous.

"There was a small amount of powder. It was nothing hazardous. Hazmat has given the all clear," said Capitol police Sgt. Kimberly Schneider. "There was also a note indicating that there was anthrax."

"It had gone through our mail system. It had been irradiated," she said. That procedure was implemented after unsolved attacks on two Senate offices in fall 2001.
