Canada reports new case of mad cow disease
Canada reports new case of mad cow disease
Last Updated Wed, 23 Aug 2006 16:07:07 EDT
CBC News

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency confirmed on Wednesday a new case of mad cow disease in Alberta.

It is Canada's fifth case in 2006 and the eighth since 2003, when the disease was first found in this country, officials said.

This year's total has included two other cows from Alberta and one each from British Columbia and Manitoba.

Fear of infection has disrupted Canada's beef and cattle exports for long periods, even though the number of cases is dwarfed by those in Britain and some of the two dozen other countries where the disease has been found.

We had one early this year, and we'll likely have another before 2007 gets too old.

9. This is a very serious matter. If governments and cattle farms weren't
so greedy that practice of feeding cattle to cattle would have never started.

This is insane and ranks up there with nuclear war which Bush/Fox/Neocons is promoting.

6. What is Canada's policy on testing cows?
I suspect more mad cow disease would be acknowledged in this country if our government required/allowed more testing. Let's don't be smug on this one.

11. I would actually eat Canadian beef. I will not touch American beef, tho.
American beef is not tested at all. In fact the FDA decided to force anyone that wanted to test to not test even if it cost them buisness from other countries.
