IRAN NUCLEAR: 'NEW PHASE OF URANIUM ENRICHMENT' SAYS UN WATCHDOG SOURCE

Vienna, 21 August (AKI) - Just hours before Iran is due to give world powers its response to a package of incentives aimed at persuading the country to give up its nuclear activities, new centrifuges have been installed at the Natanz uranium enrichment facility over the past two weeks, an anonymous source at the United Nations nuclear watchdog told Adnkronos International (AKI). Meanwhile, the country's heavy water reactor at nearby Arak in central Iran "will shortly be operational," the second in command of Iran's nuclear programme, Mohammad Saidi, was quoted as saying.

...

Iran on Sunday successfully tested a short-range ground-to-ground missile in the Kashan desert. The weapon, named Saegheh (thunder) has a range of 30-250 kilometres and its testing has worried the West, especially the United States.

White House spokeswoman Eily Lawrimore said Iran's ballistic missile systems are "a threat to US security," that demonstrated the country's bellicose ambitions show it intends to develop nuclear weapons. Iran on Saturday began extensive surface to surface missiles testing in exercises near its borders with Iraq, Turkey and Pakistan, expected to last several weeks.

The UN Security Council has given Iran until 31 August to halt its uranium enrichment plan or face sanctions. The five permanent members of the Security Council plus Germany on 6 June offered Iran a package of economic, technology and diplomatic incentives, which the country's leadership has been debating whether to accept.

2. Iran has until August 31?
Edited on Mon Aug-21-06 01:07 PM by Tempest
What happened to the July 28th, the August 7th and the August 12th deadlines?

Didn't Bush's professors at Yale and Harvard explain what a deadline was?

3. The fact that he got his degree
at Harvard doesn't mean he actually attended. Bit like his military record really.

4. 250 Kilometers? - that is SCARY - they could maybe "skip" it to the USA
,
,
,

Ya know, like you skip a flat stone across a pond or sumthing

USA wants EVERY country to be defenseless - took them ten years to rip Iraq's defences apart - then they invaded - -

But they (the US) ain't won THAT one yet -

I have to remember though, that the US Military bases in Iraq are ahead of schedule (over a dozen of them)

While the infrastructure they destroyed remains un-repaired, and the building of hospitals and schools is WAY behind schedule,

and underfunded

"Freedom on the March", my ass - -

It's Kapitalism

Dat simple . .

(sigh)

9. Well - them friggen troops have no business in Iraq!
.
.
.

Iraq was not a threat

So to coin a phrase from previous USA interferences

"Yankee go Home!!"

Invading Iraq did NOT improve the security of the USA, it only created more enemies . . .

Thousands of families lost, and are still losing loved ones under the guise of what the USA calls "collateral damage"

Sorry to shock anyone . .

But those were PEOPLE

The PNACers are creating more hatred by the day for the USA

And those families WILL avenge those deaths,

sooner or later.

9/11 will seem like a tap on the back compared what will happen in the next 2 generations

Children will grow up and remember seeing their parents abused, injured, raped and slaughtered

Ya think they won't make a life mission out of that?

Think again
