Israelis shoot 2 Hezbollah guerrillas
Israeli troops shot and wounded two Hezbollah guerrillas Monday during a clash in southern Lebanon, the army said, underscoring the fragility of a week-old truce that ended 34 days of fighting.

The army said the soldiers opened fire after guerrillas approached the force in a "threatening manner." It identified hitting two of the three militants in the group.

1. Wow, I knew the Israelis were good
But identifying guerrillas by their threatening manner and then capping two out of three of them? Damn, they must have special "guerrillas only" bullets, huh?

But if there's any break in the ceasefire, it will almost certainly be Hezbollah's fault. Unless it's Lebanon's fault. Or Iran's. Or Syria's. Let's see, am I missing anyone? Nope, don't think so. Wait, oh yes:

It could also be Al Qaeda's fault. How stupid of me to forget them.

5. That's right...
Ceasefire or no ceasefire...it's the status quo and they are all terrorists out to get Israel...it's always going to be their fault.

But Israel has no problem identifying terrorists under this worldview...they were probably kicking a soccer ball around or playing marbles in their Hezbullah issued 6X sized uniforms.

16. It doesn't matter. If they felt like they might be going to fight back

Then they can shoot them because fighting back against the occupation is against the UN resolution. They don't have to be real Hezbollah fighters, they can just be anybody who might fight back. Because anybody who is even in favor of fighting back is automatically a terrorist.

3. On a side note, Haartz.co.il (hebrew edition) is reporting...
Turkey torpedoed a transmission of deliveries of weapon to Hizballah

Turkey has stopped 5 transportation planes, from Iran and Syria, under the suspicion they contained missiles and launchers.

One plane in particular, landed in the south of Turkey without proper authorization, and per Haaretz, was searched under the suspicion that it contained the same missiles that struck the Israeli warship (early in the conflict).

My Hebrew translation ability is newly developing, as such I can't quite determine whether or not they actually found the missiles on the plane or whether it was only searched (and nothing found) based on the suspicion mentioned above. As I read it, it appears that they did indeed find 3 missiles on the plane. China is mentioned...

Lastly this section of article ends out with the information that this new Turkey tactic seems to be due to a direct request from America, that Turkey stop and search all planes entering their territory from either Iran or Syria.

The link to the Hebrew text of this story is http://www.haaretz.co.il/hasite/spages/753023.html . I welcome corrections to my translation in addition to further information on this story.

4. The (English) version I saw said nothing was found.
It seems worth pointing out that Syria has no need of Turkish airspace or airports to supply Hezbollah, if it choses to. I tend to think this is mainly political drama, rather than a serious attempt to stop the flow of weapons to Lebanon.

10. Indeed, very worthy to note.
I often find that the Hebrew versions are different from the English ones. This is one of the reasons why I enjoy surfing the Hebrew editions alongside the English ones.

For breaking news I usually keep my eye on news.fresh.co.il, which seems to have a near real time updating system for their news. They list breaking updates from Ynet, NFC, Nana, Haaretz, NRG, IDF, and Yesha News among others. Very convenient to have all those sources listed on one page, just a click and go away from any interesting story!

11. More on that Turkey/Iran/Syria story from Google News...
I checked there before I posted what I did, but couldn't find anything. Now I am finding many links listed to this story.

I was going to just email you this information but sadly, after almost 2 years here at DU, I still don't know how to initiate an email to someone.. only reply to those sent me.

13. If you want to PM...
someone...the symbol right next to the name that looks like an envelope is the button you push...it will PM or personal message that NICK in their reply...from there you can exchange proper email addresses, unless someone already has that information listed in their profiles (which few do).

It's usually a courtesy on forums like this to PM the person and then ask if they would like to exchange email addresses for various causes, newsletters, exchanges, etc.

Is that what you meant by emailing someone...a private message?

6. It reminds me of U.S./U.K. pilots attacking Iraqi radar stations, pre-2001
For having the audacity of tracking their overflights with radar (that was called threatening too).

It reminds on of adolescent gangs - "You lookin' at me? Who do you think you are looking at me."
