Democrats call for phase-out of U-S mission in Iraq
Edited on Sat Aug-19-06 11:32 AM by cal04
UNDATED Democrats are calling for an end to the U-S mission in Iraq.
In the party's weekly radio address, congressional candidate Joe Sestak (SES'-tak) called for "a new direction for America's security."

The Democratic challenger to Republican Congressman Curt Weldon says it's time to begin a "phased redeployment" of U-S forces in the region and for Iraqi leaders to become responsible for their own country.

Sestak says ending the Iraq mission would free up U-S resources to deal with other challenges such as the nuclear programs in Iran and North Korea and homeland security protections.

He also says two days of spending in Iraq would cover the costs screening all air cargo on passenger planes.

2. Yeah yeah yeah
Seems like they do this every month but nothing ever changes our soldiers are still getting their arms and legs blown off, shrapnel to the brain, coming back mentally ill, etc while these buffoons we call leaders just grumble and mumble about it amongst themselves. The people fighting Iraq need ACTION not words or vague promises.

5. Action: help elect Joe Sestak
to replace "Moonie" Curt Weldon.

If Dems regain control of Congress - with candidates like Joe Sestak - we WILL get some action.

7. Democrats can do nothing but raise the issue.
WE don't have the authority to bring them home unless voters get to the polls and support the "D" nominee.

9. Republicans know how important language is...
they all got the memo...don't say "democratic" say "democrat." I noticed it recently on the talk-show circuit. Even the hosts were using improper English to say the "democrat convention" rather than the "democratic convention."

Hillary was correct: it is a vast right-wing conspiracy.

11. Certainly, a noun makes a perfectly good adjective. I hesitate to call
the current "leaders" of the Democrats democratic. I think marshmallow is more apt. Excluding Feingold and a rare few others of course from the latter description.

8. Wow. Two days spending in Iraq = ...
"He also says two days of spending in Iraq would cover the costs screening all air cargo on passenger planes."

Putting the financial cost of Iraq in these terms really shows us what resources we are wasting in Iraq...not to mention the lives of our men and woman--and theirs.
