Hezbollah distributes its own leaflets
ZAHRANI, Lebanon - Hezbollah distributed leaflets on Monday congratulating Lebanon on its "big victory" and thanking citizens for their patience during the 34-day war with Israel.

Supporters of the guerrilla group were seen passing out leaflets to cars heading south on the Zahrani highway, which connects the hard-hit southern cities of Nabatiyeh, Tyre and Sidon.

"Congratulations to you on the big victory, with the support of God, the mujahedeen (holy warriors) and your patience," it read.

The flyers also warned people not to touch any suspicious objects, which could be unexploded ordnance

3. Did it really say "holy warriors" in parentheses? Or was that added?

7. It was likely to be in Arabic.
Mujahedeen.

I'd have rendered it 'jihadis', but not everybody's familiar with the term. 'Holy warrior' will do, || jihad = holy war.

Some would say jihadniks or jihadniki.

4. This is a big victory for the people of Lebanon and their resistance.
They have done something that has not been done previously. They had best be vigilant however, because the enemies of Lebanon are plotting how to turn defeat into victory.

5. I am surprised that Hezbollah considers having the sh*t
blown out of their country a victory???

8. Why?
They survived. And Hezbollah looks better, while preserving its honor and status as the 'resistance' showing that it can (provoke a catastrophe and) stand up to the Zionists.

Their goals are met. As for the dead, they're in paradise, having taken the short-cut. Nasrallah probably thinks he deserves thanks for it, but is too humble to say so.

9. To tell you the truth if I were Lebanese

and Hezbullah caused the killing of any member of my family and property damage to the tune of $2 Billion, I would not consider them heroes.

10. Oh stop it ...
Hezbollah didn't invite Israel to use disproportionate use. Hezbollah didn't start bombing Israeli populations until after the indiscriminate bombings against Lebanon on the part of Israel. It was about kidnapped soldiers and a prisoner exchange ... and Israel used it in an effort to destroy Hezbollah under the pretext of disarming Hezbollah. It was Israel's hope to terrify the population of Lebanon to the point that they would turn on Hezbollah. I also believe that Israel and the US wished to provoke Iran and Syria. Absurd, and dispicable.

12. Right on.
I wonder what the Lebanese man on the street really thinks about BOTH sides.

13. But the Lebanese hold the people who actually dropped the bombs
responsible. And that's Israel, not Hezbollah. To say that Hezbollah is responsible for those deaths is spin... nothing more.

14. How is that spin? Why go pick a fight with a bully
several multiples stronger than you and your patrons? All Hezbollah had were those relatively harmless Katushya rockets. Its not a fair fight. Israel could have done even greater damage - you know this Kadima ggovt with a Prime Minister and Defense Minister itching to establish their defence credibilities with the Israeli electorate, you dont go provoking them.

I would be angry at Israel for dropping the bombs and mighty pissed at Hezbullah too.

15. It's spin because
Israel used a weak excuse(a border skirmish - one of many) to launch an attack on Lebanon - disproportionate use of force, and what we now know was planned well in advance. It's spin to say Hezbollah caused it when Israel was looking for an excuse to launch their military might.

Would you say that Israel brought the suicide bombers on themselves? After all, they are the ones who stole land from the Palestinians, forced them into open air prisons etc etc...

11. Read up on your recent Middle Eastern history and you'll
understand. Hezbollah took a licking and kept on ticking, surviving far longer in the field than any other Arab army against Israel. Come to think of it, they're now 2-0 against Israel, having driven them out of the country once before in 2000.

16. look people
i'm no fan of Israel (far, far from it), but hezbollah just got their asses handed to them and it would be continuing if left to Israel and the u.s. and yes, hezbollah is just as much to blame for all of this as Israel. yes, Israel has been waiting for an excuse to do this and the idiots known as hezbollah should have known better than to kidnap those kids. they were fucking begging for it. jesus, muhammad, and moses on a big wheel, thank religion for this stupidity.
