By Wangui KaninaNAIROBI (Reuters) - Three Kenyans being held in connection with last year's deadly attacks in Mombasa were charged on Friday in a newly disclosed plot to bomb the U.S. embassy in Nairobi.

Prosecutors declined to comment on what role the accused, who are Kenyans of Arab origin, are believed to have played in the new plot.
The three were charged on Friday with four counts of conspiracy: plotting to bomb the U.S. embassy between November 2002 and June 2003, attack the embassy in 1998, and shoot down an Israeli airliner and bomb an Israeli-owned hotel last November in Mombasa.
