Hillary Clinton Wants Wider International Role in Iraq
BAGHDAD (Reuters) - U.S. Senator Hillary Clinton (news - web sites) called on Friday for a wider international role in running Iraq (news - web sites), but doubted the U.S. administration would cede much control in the country it invaded and occupied.

"I'm a big believer that we ought to internationalize this, but it will take a big change in our administration's thinking," Clinton, a Democrat from New York, said during a visit to Baghdad where she met with U.S. troops, military chiefs and civilian officials.

"I don't see that it's forthcoming," said the wife of former President Bill Clinton (news - web sites).

Clinton, who has ruled out a 2004 presidential bid, arrived in Baghdad with Democrat Senator Jack Reed of Rhode Island a day after President Bush (news - web sites)'s surprise Thanksgiving visit to U.S. troops and Iraqi officials in the capital.

1. A Gore/Hillary draft - anyone?
I do not need it - I like our choices and am ABB

But if it is a no majority won on first vote convention, I sure would not object to Gore/Hillary!

2. No way!
Hillary should have called for an immediate US withdrawal from Iraq, and letting the people of Iraq choose their own leaders.

Gore opposed the war on Iraq. Hillary voted for it.

3. Hi IG - Love ya - but on Hillary we disagree! :-)
It is a moot point - in any case - as I do not see Hillary doing anything this time round.

But I do like her!

Meanwhile who is the strongest against Bush?

4. Thanks for posting this. The mainstream media drops the ball on coverage.

5. I like Hillary for her courage
her staying power, and her ambition, but she has not made a great big impression on me so far. Too cautious and too concerned about playing the game. Too scared, politically. But I do wish her luck anyhow just for all that she has put up with so far from the right.
