Hizbollah fire wounds 3 UN peacekeepers in Lebanon
BEIRUT, Aug 6 (Reuters) - Three Chinese soldiers in the United Nations peacekeeping force were lightly wounded on Sunday when a mortar round fired by Hizbollah hit their base in southern Lebanon, a spokesman for the UNIFIL force said.

"A mortar round from Hizbollah impacted inside the headquarters of the Chinese contingent in the al-Hinneyeh area," the spokesman said.

"They received medical treatment in position. Their condition is stable and they were not evacuated."

An Israeli air strike killed four U.N. military observers at their base in southern Lebanon on July 25. Other Israeli shells have hit UNIFIL positions and wounded peacekeepers during the 26-day-old war between Israel and Lebanese Hizbollah guerrillas.

3. These three weren't killed. The four that Israel hit (and the one today

in the car ahead of the UN aid caravan) were killed.

Dead. Not coming back. Not even coming back on prothetic legs. Not coming back brain damaged. Never coming back in any form. Dead.

4. Thats OK then
Well no not really. Hezbollah are as bad as Israel. Or maybe worse, i don't recall any of Israel's backers offering to resolve the situation by pushing the Arabs into the sea. At least not uin public anyway.

6. Just because some of the leaders "want to push Israel to the sea"
does not give Israel a PAT EXCUSE to continue with this carnage.

Israel is the SUPER-POWER and "being pushed into the sea" is NOT possible.

I'm disgusted whenever this meme is used to justify the continued killing.

IMO, both sides are equally guilty of WAR CRIMES ... and at some point the carnage will stop, for now. But with continued killing, both sides are ensuring generations of HATE. It's just sad and pathetic beyond words.

9. Superpower ?
I think thats overstating the case just a tad.

Israel has a strong military thats true enough. It can only have a strong military thanks to huge amounts of aid from the US. A country of six million cannot self sustain such a military.

Once the aid stops, the military will be gone within the decade.

5. The four that Israel hit
were in a long established, clearly recognised position. All day the general in charge had been in contact with the Israelis informing them of who they were aiming at. For hour after hour the Israeli bombardment was kept up till an aircraft was summoned to deliver the extremely accurately aimed coup de grace. And then the rescuers were targeted too. Subsequently the Israelis demanded that the UN apologise for expressing its outrage.

8. That's because Israel deliberately attacked the UN
Whereas with Hezbollah, it was probably an accident. :sarcasm:
