3 bucks for your suffering (Con Ed Credit for Week w/o Electricity)
http://www.nydailynews.com/front/story/440675p-371200c.html

Con Ed is giving long-suffering Queens customers who were blacked out for more than a week a bonus for their pain and suffering - $3.

That's what most residential customers will receive as part of a Con Ed request the state Public Service Commission granted yesterday.

The credit - for billing and meter charges - will be reflected in their upcoming bill.

Large commercial customers may receive as much as $250 in the one-shot deal.

2. Another privatization failure.
It costs a fortune and delivers questionable, undependable service.

Worst, it screws small businesses. Coldstone Creamery has had to close. It was a startup enterprise, one of the few in this decade.

Energy is too vital to the economy to be itself subject to profit.

4. we have APS (arizona public service). i've been here 17 years
and i'm very pleased with their service and rates and they're really quick with getting power back on. only once after a really bad monsoon storm we had no power for 2 days. but it was understandable; the poles had been snapped like twigs and were just laying in the street. they just got a rate increase which is understandable considering the high cost of gas and oil.

BTW: during that particular storm my next door neighbor watched his chimney lift up into the air and then crash down into the swimming pool. our house had little damage. mother nature is fierce and she hits indiscriminately.

5. Arizona is smarter than New York.
You have no idea how it hurts me to say that.

3. What an insult!
I think an average of a week's worth of electricity would be the MINIMUM amount ConEd should have to credit. I know the customers won't actually be charged for that week of course, but that still would seem to be a starting point and certainly less insulting than a freaking $3.

6. I want to know Con Ed executive salaries and bonuses.
Because I know it's not the guys on the lines or down in the manholes who are responsible for this.
