Schwarzenegger Takes Fla. Prison Firm Donation
Schwarzenegger Takes Fla. Prison Firm Donation
Wed November 26, 2003 06:42 PM ET

SAN FRANCISCO (Reuters) - California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger, who boasted during his campaign that he would not be beholden to special interests, has accepted a $53,000 donation from a company operating a private prison in the state slated to be shut down.

The donation last week to the Republican, who has refused contributions from the state prison guards union, came from Florida-based Wackenhut Corrections Corporation, which operates a private prison in the Central Valley scheduled to be closed at the end of the year, a company spokesman said on Wednesday. (snip)

(snip) The donations, first reported by the Los Angeles Times on Wednesday, follow a recall campaign in which Schwarzenegger blasted his rivals for accepting special interest money. The film star said he would not need to do so because of his personal wealth. (snip)

(snip) Last year Davis, who was ousted in October, canceled the contracts with three private prisons -- a move cheered by the union but opposed by facilities such as Wackenhut. (snip/...)

2. Jebs little rays of Sunshine
These Wackenhut are some bad boys. I feel for anyone snared up to be enslaved in one of these hellholes, guilty or not. There is very little oversite in a privatized prison. Google for the story about the New Mexican fellow who couldn't find a job as a landscaper, so he took a $10 an hour Wackenhut guard position. He was dead within weeks. Untrained , understaffed , prisoner unrest, prisoners are under lockdown for 23 hours a day, or force into slave labor competing with our jobs, Brutality is the status quo...these hellholes have a terrible track record. Wackenhut is known for cutting corners to get the low bid. These things are there to break the UNIONS. What's next ? Is Arnie going to pardon all the Neo-Nazi's? Welcome to GULAG AMERICA.

6. I just entered Wackenhut Bush in google
There are 4,970 entries.

Here's the very first one:

(snip)GEORGE WACKENHUT,
an ex-FBI man, formed his namesake security company in Florida in 1954. Closely tied to the Mob, radical Cubans, and right wing nuts including WACL. Since the company's inception, its board has been packed with "former" CIA, FBI, and military agents. The company guards the US' most sensitive facilities, and runs vast domintel ops. Was a key player in the Inslaw/Octopus affair, and reportedly smuggled arms to Iraq during the BUSH Administration. (snip/...)

had better watch out! Arnold knows that you are the dregs of society and that your disgusting support of Pete Wilson is the reason that you are over paid today. YOU are expendable! Fact #1: skilless replacement goons can be recruited anywhere. Fact #2: expect no sympathy from California's legitimate labor unions. (let Peewee Wilson help you now) Fact #3: you have no support from the general population. Fact #4: Arnold owes you nothing. Fact #5 Your bloated payroll makes you a prime target for the terminater's promise to balence the budget ...... Asta La Vista, Baby... & guess what? NO ONE will miss you.

10. Management vs Labor. Some people here were pissed that Davis took
money from the prison guards. What do they say about Arnold taking money from the prisons?
