UN body criticises US on rights
28 July 2006

Help was slow in reaching many in New Orleans after Katrina

The US should immediately shut all secret detention facilities used in its campaign against terror groups, the UN Human Rights Committee has said.

The UN report also covered the domestic human rights situation in the US.

It urged the government to ensure the rights of poor people and blacks were respected in relief efforts.

Lawyers for the US State Department said they were disappointed by the report, which they said was not a full analysis of the situation.

Heck of a job, Georgie, heck of a job.

2. Waiting for the State Department to say the UN is over reacting. That
seems to be the latest cover. UK sends a formal complaint about the bombs to Israel going through their airports and Bush gives that verbal half-hearted "I'm sorry there was a problem" - end of story - UK's over reacting. Japan threatens to cancel ALL beef imports if there's another incident of banned beef parts shipped and the US says they're over reacting. Hey world, what's the problem? Stop over reacting. :eyes:

I don't think the rest of the world is going to take that sort of attitude and roll over the way the Dems tend to. The NeoCons are getting overly cocky, just because their tactics have worked fairly well for them here.

4. That would only matter if BushCo recognized the UN
They have been bad-mouthing and ignoring the UN for years.

Get ready for the big anti-UN statements...

I'm glad the UN spoke up, but I'm afraid it's too little too late. What next? Are they going to issue sanctions against the USA?

5. "UN report also covered the domestic human rights situation in the US."
Did ya ever in your wildest dreams think we'd be in this situation???

Aside from dead Americans left lying on American streets for weeks.

Aside from official sanctioning of torture and extraordinary rendition and waging supreme crime Hitleresque wars of aggression invasions...

RIP, America.
