Clinton calls for western-brokered ceasefire
HALIFAX — Former U.S. president Bill Clinton says the West should be pushing hard for a ceasefire between Israel and Hezbollah and the insertion of an international peacekeeping force in southern Lebanon.

Speaking in Halifax, Clinton said Hezbollah is the root of the problem and should be disarmed, and Israel has been looking for a way to at least degrade the Islamic group's military capability.

He says Israel did go too far in bombing the airport in Beirut, which he described as a symbol of the new Lebanon.

4. Agreed. When I saw the headline I knew it would have to be from Bill.

The pandering Hill (wannabe POTUS, but not gonna happen with my vote) would never cross the line to issue rational statements that might upset her base. Hell, I used to be part of her base, but her lack of a public statement on the NY Supreme Court ruling on gay marriage pretty much told me her position and she does not represent me. Add that to her continued support for the invasion and occupation of Iraq that has brought us here and now.

I'll be voting Tasini in the NY Primary and anybody but her if she enters the 2008 Presidential campaign.

5. I second that motion! The airport can be rebuilt, but the kids can't.

9. Damn he was right down the street from me

Sorry I missed him.

He also said this:

When asked about the U.S. presence in Iraq, Mr. Clinton said it was a mistake to take action before United Nations weapons inspectors had finished their work. The answer sparked applause from the audience.
