Lebanon crisis 'threatens Iraq peace'From correspondents in London

ISRAEL'S assault on Lebanon will derail efforts to stabilise Iraq and threatens to bolster Islamist militants across the Middle East, Iraqi Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki warned in London today.

At a joint press conference with British Prime Minister Tony Blair, Maliki, speaking in Arabic through a translator, said: "What goes on in Lebanon ... will backfire the stability process in Iraq."
He continued, "What is going on in Lebanon will be a great push to fundamentalism ... This will increase terrorism and extremism".
