Democrats Narrow Fundraising Gap With GOP

WASHINGTON (AP) -- National Democratic Party committees closed a fundraising gap with their Republican counterparts in June, raising more money and improving their cash on hand, according to reports filed Thursday.

The data is the latest sign that that neither party would hold a financial edge in this year's contest for control of Congress.

1. Here's something that will blow your mind

the Democratic candidate in the third district of Nebraska (that's the huge rural district that elected a Repub by a 87-11 margin in 2004) has better than a 2:1 cash on hand advantage. That's almost $300,000 to get his message out. This could be much closer than people think if he mounts an effective ad campaign. Who knows, he might even pull it off. :)
