UN warns over Afghanistan drought

By Mark Dummet
BBC News, Kabul

The United Nations in Afghanistan says that millions are facing hunger this year
because of drought and that it does not have the resources to help.

The drought situation is worst in the south where the Taleban insurgency is
at its strongest.

Many communities have only just recovered from the catastrophic drought
that ended last year.

Much of the country's wheat crop has failed this year because of lower than

1. Have you notices BBC is slow on reporting on Israel?
They have learned their lesson not to F* with Israel. few of their reporters were expelled from Gaza who now report in Africa.

2. But W and Laura has said these people are prosperous
since we saved them from the Taliban. As W promised needy Americans all will have a table set at the table of plenty. Nada, nada, nada, liar, liar, liar.

3. With everything else they are also affected by
Global Warming. I'm surprised that any wheat could grow in such a dry, desolate place.

Or as Marie Bush Antonette would say, "Let them eat poppies!"

Seriously, anybody looked at giving them drought-resistant crops to grow? If not, the heroin trade will "blossom" but maybe that's what our rulers want.
