Hillary has more than $22M in war chest

Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton has more than $22 million for her re-election run against two little-known New York Republicans, raising the possibility of plenty of leftover cash for a potential White House bid.

The former first lady said her campaign had raised almost $5.7 million over the last three months and had raised more than $43 million overall. The campaign has spent more than $21.7 million on her bid for a second Senate term.

Clinton had $19.7 million cash on hand at the end of March after raising more than $6 million during the first three months of the year.

Patti Solis Doyle, executive director of the Friends of Hillary campaign committee, said that over the second quarter of this year, the Clinton committee received 38,377 individual contributions with almost 35,000 of those donors giving $100 or less.

1. I was at a meeting recently where a woman told me Hillary promised her
a seat at her inauguration--her presidential inauguration. I said "I thought she wasn't running for president". She:"Well, she has to say that. BUt of course she's running. I've already volunteered to work on her campaign."

Sometimes, Fox News is right!

2. Hillary for PREZ is a FAUX wet dream. Hill should wait and after November
she should donate a lot of money to a democratic candidate who does not unite the RepubliCANTS and divide the Democrats.

3. she runs, we lose
she may be popular, even acceptable, to most Dems but she will never get the electoral votes to win. she's just too polarizing a figure, too much of a business as usual Democratic politician. We need an un-politician, like Wes Clark, someone who will appeal to voters because he's not a beltway insider like most senators are. Or even a governor like Warner/Virginia could work. But no more members of congress please!

21. How can anybody say that anymore?
I am no fan of Hillary, but to still claim that she is less of a candidate than other possibles is just ludicrous. Read the story again: She has $22 Million for a re-election in which she has no viable competition. Is she going to give it all away to other candidtaes? It is immaterial to the argument. She is the most successful Democratic fundraiser. She obviously has a strong organization. She gets press every time she breathes.

One can like her or not like her, but I don't think her viability can be denied. Polarization works both ways.

4. Think of all the good that money could do in the primaries
if she gave it out to many candidates who need it so desperately. No, she has to sit on it and save it all for the folly of running for President.

What a loss of a great opportunity.

5. So she's to blame that she's raised so much money?
I mean, you would prefer she just give it away? She is spreading it around btw, just not as much as you'd hope.

17. In A Word, Yes
Hillary Clinton could buy a lot of new friends if she supported worthy candidates in the House and Senate, who could take back the Legislature and impeach a few asses, especially Supreme ones.

Then she'd have a power base for a real run at the White House, and some demonstrated ability to think like a political leader.

6. I give her credit for one thing
She is one HELL of a fund-raiser. If she is the nominee, money will not be a problem. That should be noted by those of us who are concerned that the Democratic presidential nominee devote money and campaign resources to as many states as possible.

8. If she isn't running for President, she should donate the money
to other candidates.

If she is running for President, she should come out and say so. I am tired of all of the Hillaristas that continue to deny that she is running for President when it is so obvious that she is.

14. I would not care if she had a billion dollars in her "war chest"
I could never vote for this warmonger in a million years. It is obscene these 'war chests". It is obscene that it takes millions upon millions of dollars for a candidate to "sell" themself, using propagandist techniques and marketing techniques, much like georgie.

I fully expect to see Hillary photo oped with the Christian right, inf front of a dazzling display of American flags.

Please, this seems to me to be a path to the destruction of America.

Hillary--NO for me.

23. Goldwater launched the Reagan Conservative
end all FDR social programs branch of the Republican Party. If she runs as a Goldwater Girl, she'll be officially announcing that she's really a Republican as far as I'm concerned. Goldwater was as extreme right as you could get without being a Bircher or McCarthyite.

I lay this out in one simple post. This is an opinion board. I stated mine. You stated yours. (which I suppose is that she is a person of political courage and I'm just trying to slime her personality).
