Jailed Cunningham among 'departing' lawmakers being honored
WASHINGTON – Four months after being sent to prison, former Rep. Randy “Duke” Cunningham is being honored for serving time – in Congress.

Cunningham, who admitted to accepting $2.4 million in bribes, will be among 37 departing members of Congress honored for “hard work, service, time and sacrifices” by the U.S. Capitol Historical Society in a reception next week.

The historical group debated whether Cunningham deserved to be among those feted, but finally decided to honor the former San Diego Republican because he resigned from Congress rather than being forced out by his colleagues.

. . .

Among those honored with Cunningham will be former Rep. Tom Delay, R-Texas, who recently resigned from Congress amid several federal investigations of his dealings and an indictment for campaign money laundering in his home state.

1. Let me get this right:
"The historical group debated whether Cunningham deserved to be among those feted, but finally decided to honor the former San Diego Republican because he resigned from Congress rather than being forced out by his colleagues."

So they're honoring Cunningham because he 'cut and run' from Congress rather than 'staying the course' and letting them throw his crooked ass out? Interesting.

just maybe someone on the right wing board of justice might frown upon it, but I doubt it!!

10. True. Even Nancy Pelosi is going to be there helping to hand out
the awards that night. There will probably be great press afterwards.

The only dissent being heard is on the net.

15. Look For Signs Of Progress
This is another instance that justice can be difficult to
achieve. Progress is not always easy, but gook and fair
minded people should not get discouraged when injustice
happens.
I encourage friends to keep looking for the good, learn
about how life works as much as possible, and believe that
even though bad things happen, there is positive signs of
progress throughout history that we can take hope from and do
our part to pass on to the future.

After all, they are a part of the (current) majority party. But thanks to them and their crimes coming to light their party won't be the majority party much longer.

18. It's their way of saying it's OUR fault.
Republicans are sneaky little shitheads. I guarantee this is how they make it appear as though their guys are innocent. Ie., it's the Democrats who did this to them.

They live in an alternative reality. These kinds of people are damaged.

24. you people just don't get it, do you?
In republikanworld, it is indeed an honor to take $2.4 million in bribes. That's the honor, don't you get it? It's not just anyone who can work himself into a position of being able to take $2.4 under the table.

OK, so the jail matter is a little problem..... grumble, mumble. But that shouldn't distract from the magnificent republican achievement of taking $2.4 in bribes.

25. Yeah, and Ken Lay is just a good guy who was hounded...
and stressed into a heart attack. Bush is just unlucky but has risen to the challenge of those problems from Clinton. Tom Delay has been the victim of a conspiracy. Yada, yada, yada.

Who are the fools that keep on gobbling up this shit? Too many stupid people. Weak egos that must not be challenged.
