GOP criticizes new Democratic web video

WASHINGTON (CNN) -- Republicans sharply criticized Democrats Wednesday for using images of flag-draped coffins and a makeshift grave of a fallen soldier in a new web-based video.

The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee distributed a link to the video "America Needs a New Direction" on Tuesday to political supporters in a fundraising e-mail.

"I hope you will watch it, forward it on to your friends and family and ask them to join our movement for a Democratic Congress and a new direction for America," DCCC Chairman Rahm Emanuel (Illinois) writes in the e-mail letter.

National Republican Congressional Committee Chairman Tom Reynolds (New York) charged that Democrats are trying to "blatantly exploit the sacrifices made by the men and women of our Armed Forces" for political purposes.

10. That reminds me ... did the Republicans kill that legislation where
the Dems wanted to fly flags at half-staff every time a US service person died in Iraq? Seems that the Repukes wouldn't want people to know we're at war ...

3. I think that "exploit the sacrifices..." dog is getting too old to hunt.
It's all they've got. Meanwhile, Americans are watching the situation in the Middle East spin out of control, and seeing for themselves an administration with no ideas on how to stop wht they've started.

6. Idiots!
Don't they understand when the American media gleefully parades pics of dead or captive Muslims but gets holier than thou when it comes to showing the people the full story, it only helps recruit more jihadists & enemies?

11. But, but, but. The troops belong to the GOP!!!
They don't belong to the rest of the country. They are the GOP's. All theirs. How dare the Democrats claim any part of the US military!!!

14. Too bad
That's the truth of war: people die. There are flag-draped coffins that come back home with the bodies of young men and women inside. Might as well face up to that truth than try to suppress it, as the Republicans have done.

17. They don't want people to have a visual of the coffins.
Gop knew early on that americans would not support a war that brought home coffins.

20. Yeppers, it's the exclusive 'right' of the Reich Wing to exploit 9/11,
family members of those killed on 9/11, the troops, etc etc etc.

The nightly body counts during the Viet Nam war went a long way towards turning American sentiment against the war; with so many in this country already against it, if we were allowed to see the reality of the death and destruction from this filthy war of choice that Chimpy started, it'd be all over. They can't allow that...they and their corporate cronies are getting rich off this war.

"

But it's just fine and dandy for * to use double amputee soldiers running with him for photo-ops? As if that says "The Iraq War is just dandy. See this man who lost his legs? He's OK with it!" SICK! The GOP is so full of hypocrites how do they stand themselves????

22. What a load of it...
The Repubs will blatantly exploit the images of soldiers at work and dead insurgents/Iraqis/terrorists/etc.

It's come down to this truth: everything the Repubs and this administration accuse their opponents of doing is what they themselves carry out in practice.

24. Didn't one of Pretzledent Bush'
ads last election feature the "flag draped coffin" of a New York City Fireman?

See, when they do it, it's honoring, when Dems do, it's exploiting.

Me thinks they doth protest too much.

No, just reveal, after you nazi bastards made it illegal to photograph the coffins and call anyone reporting honestly about your disastrous, murderous, illegal, immoral war "traitors." Just go to hell, scumbags.
