1. So, you're saying they gave them a timetable
in order to prod them into doing something. Hmmmm, they should try that more often.

MOSCOW (AP) - The United States, Russia and other industrial democracies said Thursday
they want Iran to answer "yes" or "no" next week to an international offer to bargain
over Tehran's disputed nuclear program and said they are disappointed that the clerical
regime has not replied by now.

"We are disappointed in the absence of an official Iranian response to this positive
proposal," said a statement from foreign ministers of the Group of Eight industrial
nations. "We expect to hear a clear and substantive Iranian response to these proposals"
at the meeting scheduled July 5 between the European Union's foreign minister and Iran's
nuclear negotiator.

The ministers said leaders of the Group of Eight industrial nations will asses the Iran
situation before mid-July. The leaders meet in Russia July 15-17 to discuss the situation,
among other topics.

11. My thoughts exactly!
We all thought 6/6/06 would be the day we attacked Iran, maybe we were off by 30 days!

Because we all know when your popularity is tanking, start a war! And don't forget..."terra, terra, terra!!!!!!"

17. Well, they said BY July 5th - So maybe they are planning a 4th of
July bombing. This would just be so wonderful since everyone will be in that patriotic mood.

Hmm. Maybe they are hoping no one will notice the bomb noise from the fireworks...

27. I think you're on to something here.
Iran is 9.5 hours ahead of us (central time), so their deadline will pass at 3:30 pm (eastern)on July 4th. That means Bush can start "shocking and awing" in time for the evening news broadcasts across the USA, so Patriotic Americans can cheer and line up behind him, presumably while they're barbecuing.

28. I think you're on to something here.
Bush will use the asteroid's passing to revive the old classic "stagecoach's leaving" line from American movie westerns. He'll give the Iranians an ultimatum: "either take the next asteroid out of the solar system, or face the consequences!" It'll be a hit the the Bushbots!

Where's John Ford when you need him?

:sarcasm: (but you already knew that...)

14. oh no
Here we go. It doesn't matter if they answer or not. If they say they will get rid of the nuke program, * will say that he doesn't believe them. And because they lied, we will punish them with an extra round of bombing...not to mention the invasion. But, as you all know, the good people of iran want us to come liberate them. Anything we do in the name of that liberation will be accepted and embrassed....

If iran says no way, well...see my paragraph above.

(k&r)

What good does it do to anyone or anything to draw this cut off line? This manufactured urgency is exactly the same as that which hurried us into the disaster in Iraq.

Only people who are anxious to get us imbroiled in a bigger mess than we are already in stand to gain.

(Quick, there's still some money and oil to steal.. Nov 6 is coming, hurry!!)

It is time to
PUT ON THE BRAKES!

22. Talks? What happened to the sabre rattling?
Shock and Talks? Thtt's a bit mild for President Halliburton. It sounds like maybe they've realized they can't attack Iran. Why do I see a cartoon with a little Bush Boy tugging on Iran's pants leg? If only I could draw. The once mighty and powerful, now resorting to discussion, where once bombs did that work.

What about sanctions, if Iran is such a horrible threat to the world? That worked with Iraq. Oh, wait, all that did was kill half a million children. And we still bombed the shit out of them. Still are, last I heard.

Americans are so lame. The streets should be full of people with pitchforks demanding this cabal be thrown in the slammer. Hang em.

Iran reply to big power offer expected July 5
Thu Jun 29, 2006 10:04am ET

MOSCOW (Reuters) - The six major powers involved in seeking an end
to the nuclear standoff with Iran expect Tehran to give an official
response to their package of incentives on July 5, a U.S. State
department official said on Thursday.

The official told reporters: "Our collective understanding is the official
Iranian response will come on July 5."

Earlier, the foreign ministers of the Group of Eight industrialized
countries told Iran they wanted a "clear and substantive" reply to their
offer when European Union foreign policy chief Javier Solana meets Iran's
top nuclear negotiator Ali Larijani on July 5.
