Romania to pull out troops from Iraq this year: PM

BUCHAREST (Reuters) - Romania plans to withdraw its troops from Iraq
by the end of this year, Prime Minister Calin Tariceanu said on Thursday.

The announcement regarding Romania's 890 troops follows a similar move
by Italy, while Japan began withdrawing its troops from the U.S.-led
coalition in Iraq last week.

Tariceanu said the Iraq mission was too costly for the poor ex-communist
country, which hopes to enter the European Union next year. It was also
unpopular with many Romanians.

"It is not surprising and it was discussed with our U.S. and British
partners," Tariceanu told a news briefing.

and 20 gas cans (their contribution to the "war on terra") and go home. They've done all they can do. Romania is "cutting and running". They seem to have a lot more sense than our own government anyway. Bush's never ending war isn't sitting well with our "allys". Is there anyone left in our "coalition of the billing"?
