Bush accuses some Democrats of surrender on Iraq

CLAYTON, Mo., June 28 (Reuters) - President George W. Bush accused some Democrats on Wednesday of wanting to "wave the white flag of surrender" on Iraq, and vowed that American forces would stay until the mission was complete.

Speaking just over four months before an election in which Democrats hope to wrest control of Congress from Bush's Republicans, the president took a swipe at those Democrats who are pushing for a timetable for troop withdrawal.

Increasing public disapproval of the Iraq war, in which over 2,500 U.S. military personnel have died, has contributed to low popularity ratings for Bush.

"We will complete the mission and I will make my judgments as to the troop levels necessary to achieve victory, not based upon political polls or focus groups, but based upon the measured judgment of our commanders on the ground," Bush said at a fund-raiser for Republican Sen. Jim Talent of Missouri.

You think cheney is going to leave all that oil with a pack of towelheads? Notice that they have long ago stopped with the "freedom & democracy" bullshit, it's all about killing terrorists now, and that's a conveniently open ended proposition.

12. How Can There Be A Surrender, When There Is No War?
There can be a disengagement, a withdrawal, an abandonment, but surrender? Not possible as defined:

Surrender VERB:

intr.

To give oneself up, as to an enemy.

However, getting out of Iraq would mean returning it to the Iraqi people.

Surrender VERB:
tr.

To relinquish possession or control of to another because of demand or compulsion.
To give up in favor of another.
To give up or give back (something that has been granted): surrender a contractual right.
To give up or abandon: surrender all hope.
To give over or resign (oneself) to something, as to an emotion: surrendered himself to grief.
Law To restore (an estate, for example), especially to give up (a lease) before expiration of the term.

WE OUGHT TO SURRENDER IRAQ BY ALL STANDARDS OF INTERNATIONAL LAW ANYWAY. NO BIG DEAL, JUST GOOD BUSINESS.

13. My response to this statement ...
"If it'll stop the deaths of thousands more Americans and countless civilians, provide an opening to rebuild the shambles of our country and allow us to reforge diplomatic ties that we've squandered, then HELL YES. I surrender!"

Edited on Wed Jun-28-06 11:28 PM by BadGimp
More to the point what Rove is doing??

This is a shot into the noise that again waves the Democrats as Surrender Monkeys meme that Rove has been pushing. They know it's not true, but truth means little when you are waging a war for mindshare.

The proper response is a loud and angry FUCK YOU Mr President!!!!!!!!!! You sir and the entire GOP machine have acted like cowards and surrendered our freedoms and civil liberties so the cowering weak kneed, lilly livered Red State knuckle draggers can regain a sense of security from all the dishonest terror fear mongering you have inflicted upon them. You evil bastards are Godless and Souless.

19. "based upon the measured judgment of our commanders on the ground..."
Well....

The commanders on the ground seem to agree with the Democrats? General Casey has said we will probably pull out two brigades before November? So, who's calling the shots George? The Democrats or General Casy??
