Germany can accept nuclear enrichment in Iran
Iran should be allowed to enrich uranium for power generation provided there is close monitoring by U.N. inspectors to ensure it is not trying to develop atomic weapons, Germany's defense minister said on Wednesday.

The minister's comments may suggest that after years of failed negotiations with Iran, Germany and some other Western powers are willing to compromise with Iran over enrichment in order to resolve peacefully the nuclear stand-off with Tehran.

But it is unclear if this view would be acceptable to hardline camps in Washington and London, Western diplomats say.

3. Make that the EU-1 position.
If Germany has finally acknowledged reality, that means France did so in secret a while ago. Russia and China have already said, it's not going to the UN Security Council.

That leaves Bush-Blair, by themselves, and they hold no cards. Right back where they started at the beginning of this latest round of Let's Make a Deal. Okay, Dubya and Tony, will it be Door No. 1, Door No. 2 or Door No. 3?

Ah, so sorry. You did not win the Persian Gulf. As a consultation prize you have won an all expenses paid trip to the Hague. Tell them about it, Larry.

You'll be flying CIA Air in the comfort of a Gulfstream Five executive jet to an undisclosed location where you will receive the around the clock attention of personal trainers. And, your vacation may last forever!!! Yes, I said forever!!! That means for the rest of your natural lives!!!

APPLAUSE!!!!!:applause:

4. The Freepers must be going mad
They were so overjoyed when Merkel was elected Chancellor, they thought they'd found another helmut Kohl stooge. Unfortunately, they probably have, but even the most conservative mainstream Europeans (not counting the real white power nuts) looks like a left liberal from this side of the pond.
