Installation of the massive sector gates are on schedule, but a several-hundred-foot gap west of the structure won’t be ready, said Jackie Purrington, a project manager for the Army Corps of Engineers. The opening means water from a storm surge would simply flow around the concrete gates until it fills the north half of the canal and possibly spills over its banks.
surprised them did it, well, it don't surprise me, this IS the army corps of engineers we're talkin abt!
