Three Foiled Hijack Plots Revealed in U.S. Document
Edited on Wed Jun-21-06 10:13 AM by Mr. Mojo Risin
Al Qaeda terrorists were planning to use cameras to disguise bombs and flash attachments as stun guns in a disrupted hijack plot that targeted the U.S. east coast, Britain, Italy and Australia, U.S. officials say.

The plot was one of three previously unknown al Qaeda hijack plots disrupted before they could be carried out, according to a Department of Homeland Security report obtained by ABC News.

The previously secret plots include one in which "Al-Qa'ida planned to hijack flights departing London's Heathrow Airport and crash them into the airport and a skyscraper in the Canary Wharf financial district of London."

The plot using cameras and flash attachments was foiled in the summer of 2003, according to the report.

Homeland Security officials say it is an example of al Qaeda adapting "to increased aviation security by shifting planned suicide hijackings from domestic carriers to international flights…to take advantage of perceived less effective security screening at some foreign airports."

5. And now we hear about it...
...three years later because it wasn't something DHS would have wanted to let be known at the time - sure. LBN from 2003.

Ditto on the crock call. Whatever it takes to reverse the sagging popularity polls.

23. I'm willing to believe in "plots," at least...
...just not Bruckheimerian actions like stopping the plot when the red LED clock says 0:00:02, which is practically what Washington's been claiming every other month since '01.

It's not like Osama's surviving boys are likely to have just been twiddling their thumbs for the past five years. They wouldn't be a threat at all if they didn't have at least some intelligence and initiative. It's the routine of "oh, we just stopped a horrendous attack at the last minute!" silliness that strikes me as contrived to say the least, especially when it's more or less out of the blue.

Also, on a more practical level, a lot of these "plots" would be foiled if the perps simply found out somehow that the target's aware of them. Some guys would be discussing (seriously or otherwise) a plan to do X to Y via Z, they'd get the feeling or indication that Y knew something was going on, and they'd start looking for other targets. Poke 'em enough, they'll either come out into the open (if they're stupid), or go to ground and stay there (which is likely what's actually happening). Or they'll continue publicly discussing their plans, in which case you get something like those dumbasses arrested in Toronto a few weeks ago.

4. Lemmie Guess;...
they were able to foil the plot buy listening in on domestic phone-calls then tracking the calling patterns of the two endpoints using a gigantic Orwellian call database. It's a damn good thing we have that system in place. :eyes:

6. Prepare for Ramming
We're gonna hear a lot more about this in the lead up to the elections.

More and more fear.

Bushco has shown they can create the news, to fit the agenda, when need be.

12. I remember this. It was an Orange Alert.
Airline passengers had to submit anything with a cord or a battery
for inspection at the security checkpoint. Several passengers and
crewmembers had to take their pants off to be searched.

They're trying to tell us it wasn't a false alarm? So, how did flash
cameras and cell phones become safe after the scare was over?

Also, on top of the plot to gas the New York subways, we also have
a government contractor revealing a videotape of a third 20th 9/11 hijacker.
Never mind last night's video tape from al-Qaeda's #2 guy.

And questions are emerging about how real that NYC gas plot might be.

What's next, a terrorist strike team sneaking aother dirty bomb
across the Mexican border?

And Dick Cheney tells us that BushCo's warmongering and police state tactics
protect us from all of this.

Shrubya's poll numbers are so deep down the toilet that killing al-Zarqawi
can't push them up. So now, they're running that old fear machine at full tilt.
Don't be surprised to see these occasional terra'lerts all the way to November.

I'm sorry, but I can't believe a word of anything that comes from the Bush
administration.

I've seen some rough airports, far more militant (I dunno about secure) than Americas. Sounds like Al Qaeda is going high-tech! :(

Funny that everything is classified unless it puts the government in a good light. Of course it would be ABC who somehow secrectly obtained this info and gave it air time.

26. Me thinks these nuts R just testing the water to see if their old
dirty goeblelian tricks still work on the earlier easily manipulative populace. Like, they wanna know if the numbers will go up, or if they'll drop off the charts at the bottom next week. Basically, they're kinda 'gambling' like, it worked very well in the past, but they've been a bit 'lazy' on the propaganda machine (their idiot 'color codes') for a while (when was the last one issued??)
