Senator John Kerry (D-MA) is set to introduce an amendment to the Defense Authorization Bill calling for the redeployment of U.S. combat troops out of Iraq by the end of the year, RAW STORY has learned.

Kerry first called for the redeployment of U.S. forces out of Iraq by the end of this year in October of 2005. The plan called for a draw down of 20,000 U.S. troops after Iraqi elections in December. That plan would have left Iraq with an ultimatum: if leaders couldn’t form a unity government by May 15, American troops would leave immediately; if they did form a government, combat forces would exit by the end of 2006.
