Dole visits with Iraqi prime minister 5:09 PM
Associated Press

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Sen. Elizabeth Dole became the first member of Congress to meet with the new Iraqi prime minister when she quietly traveled to his country last weekend.

Dole, R-N.C., told The Charlotte Observer that she and Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki discussed several topics, including keeping Iran removed from Iraqi politics, bringing more schools and more electric service to Iraq and his delay in naming government ministers to oversee the army and the police.

"We talked about the fact that a strong, independent person in those positions is important to give the Iraqi people confidence in the security forces," said Dole, a member of the Armed Services Committee. "He said the complexity of (balancing different religious groups' interests) had caused a little more time but that (the appointments) would be coming soon."

Dole, a former president of the American Red Cross and the first woman to head the U.S. Transportation Department, also met with three of the four women serving as ministers in the Iraqi Cabinet.

3. Can we leave her there? Kinda like a permanent position?
We here in NC could sure use a new senator.

4. We sure as hell could
She hasn't answered one email, phone call or letter in the past four years. All I get is the same form letter.

Ever since she declared Karl Rove a close friend and defended the leaking of Plame I have thought she surely could be replaced given the right candidate.

What has she done here?

She was working on getting the furniture industry back on track right? Notice more closings and talk of moving the convention to Las Vegas?

As if we needed a rubber stamp for our representative.

Anyone but Dole in 06

she sure as hell isn't doing anything for NC she is nothing more than a *Bush lap dog girl!
I can't stand having her as a Senator she is worthless and horrible when it comes to responding to NC citizen concerns!!
Dole either (A) doesn't respond at all. Or (B) doesn't even bother to respond!
