Glitch delays e-mail from AOL, others
Thursday, June 1, 2006

(CNN) -- Millions of AOL, Compuserve and Netscape customers around the world were experiencing delays in sending and receiving e-mails Thursday.

A problem was discovered about 11 a.m. ET, according to Nicholas Graham of AOL Corporate Communications.

"It is not an outage, it is a delay," he said. The company is queueing up millions of e-mails, and they will all flow through when the problem is solved, he said.

At this time there is no evidence of any sort of sabotage or hacking. Graham said it looked like the problem was tied to some code that was used in routine maintenance....

Graham did not give figures on the number of users affected by the delay but said it could affect any AOL member or user of any e-mail products at aol.com who signed on Thursday. The problem affected all versions of AOL....

2. Glitch or Government Intervention?
Maybe the emails stalled in their normal first stop at the NSA.

7. One might be the other.
Remember: AOL is in Reston VA, one of the biggest data junctions in the world. If I was gonna start vacuuming data on a trial basis, I would give a serious look at Reston and AOL to do it.

After all, for the feds, it's close to home.

9. anybody experience this with other providers/email?
Mail from an Earthlink account frequently gets held up as do mails that are sent to me from others' Earthlink accounts. Sometimes even the time mail was sent is wrong.

Some real exciting reading, I'm sure... like exhaustive accounts of the insect bite on my foot.

Dipshits.

10. AOL sux. I hate it.
Glad I'm not hooked up with them. AOL likes to install spyware crap on computers.
