Bush Approval Rating Falls to 33% in ABC/Washington Post Poll (from 38%)
May 16 (Bloomberg) -- President George W. Bush's job approval sank to a new low of 33 percent in an ABC News/Washington Post poll, as more Americans say they disapprove of the way he's handled the Iraq war.

The president's disapproval rating, 65 percent, is the highest registered in an ABC/Post poll since 1981, at the end of President Jimmy Carter's single term in office. His approval rating matches his father's lowest number, which came just months before he lost his re-election bid in 1992. Bush's approval rating was 38 percent in a ABC/Post poll last month.

. . .

Sixty-two percent of the public said that considering the costs versus the benefits to the U.S. the war in Iraq is not worth fighting, and 50 percent said they feel that way strongly. Fifty-nine percent said going to war was a mistake. Among those who disapprove of the way Bush is doing his job, the biggest portion -- 49 percent -- say the main reason is the war.

1. Where are the "likeability" polls Rove mentioned?
A strong majority thinks he sucks as president, but Rove claims Americans still like Bush as a person.

22. Well
I like my beer truck driving brother-in-law, but I don't want him running the most powerful country in the world.

This is what happens when we elect our Pretzledent by the "I'd like to have a beer with him" standard.

Thanks Tweety and the MSM!

I'm thinking at this point you'd be hard pressed to find a "wino" that would share a bottle of Morgan-David with him.

4. And he has 3 more horrible years to break all records.
By the time this thing is over and finished, his low approval ratings will go down as historically the worst ever.

7. ABC News's poll is even more corporate/establishmentarian than Fox's
So this is good news. There comes a certain point that pollsetrs can no longer cover things up anymore, and we are now out that point.

8. Even though Americans are happy
Edited on Tue May-16-06 07:40 PM by 99Pancakes
Polls also show that majorities of Americans are happy with their communities and personal lives, so Shrub Bot can't blame it on personal pessimism.

In sum: scads of "merikuns" are happy with themselves but PO-ed with their President. Ha! Goes to show what a loss Shrubby's war is.

(edit: fixed typo)

19. Yeah, Stephanopoulos seized on that
Little George said that it was just so incongruous that 89% of the people polled felt optimistic about their personal future, so he was able to blame all of Lord Pissypants' low poll numbers on all that darned negative war reporting. Stephanopoulos practically said straight out that if the media weren't telling the public about all that death and messiness in Iraq and Afghanistan, why, Bush's poll numbers would be just as right as rain again!

So clap harder, you fuckers! Or Tink takes the big dirt nap.

24. FALLS to 33?! THought they were already at 29 last week?
Maybe the fluctuation "up" was due to Pickle's and Rove's recent denial of poll numbers.

By saying is ain't so...WOW. Must really work!
