Bush: War, gas prices have caused 'battle fatigue'

Bush: War, gas prices have caused 'battle fatigue'
Bush talks Iraq, Iran, oil, and immigration in an interview with Florida press.

President Bush, his approval ratings at a record low, acknowledged Wednesday that war in Iraq and rising gas prices at home have created "battle fatigue" among many Americans.

That anxiety, Bush said, has settled over much of the nation as people worry about whether the U.S. will succeed in Iraq and how they'll afford to fill up their tanks.

"There's a sense of disquiet because of the war in Iraq," said Bush, in an hour-long interview with the Orlando Sentinel and six other Florida newspapers.

Deepening concerns about the war, as well as the current standoff with Iran over its nuclear ambitions and high gas prices at home "have caused Americans to really take a look at the future and wonder whether or not it's as good as they want it to be. I understand that."

4. It's amazing how scripted his words always sound.....
"have caused Americans to really take a look at the future and wonder whether or not it's as good as they want it to be. I understand that."

"I understand that"?? He understands how people look to the future? Come on, these are lines being fed to him. Even a cursory introduction to this man would confirm he don't understand.

16. My thoughts, exactly.
So Bush says "my thoughts exactly".

So what?

Don't expect a single word, after that noble phrase.

8. Hear, hear.
Speaking for myself (and a lot more Americans, I presume), we all have a heavy duty case of MEpublican malaise. Look in the mirror, chimpy. It's you that's exhausting us!

6. OMG! It's Jimmy Carter and "malaise" all over again!
Some of you young'uns won't remember this, but nothing got Carter more shit than admitting that America had a sense of "malaise". Turns out even depressed, angry people don't like presidents remarking on their being depressed or angry without DOING something about it, because then it sounds like it's the people's fault, not theirs.

t

It's high time we stop paying this snivelling little POS's rent on 1600 Pennsylvania Ave and unemploy his sweet bippy! Not that he'll understand that either!

I'm freaking tired of having his Kool Aid laced w/hemlock forced down every citizen of America's throat - Jim Jones style. The damage he's done I fear is quite irreversible in millions of Americans' lifetimes. Battle fatigue, my butt...mortally wounded is more like it.

10. Sounds like the 7 Florida newspapers...
threw him softball question after softball question.

His whole administration has caused battle fatigue precisely because he's at war with the interests of the vast majority of Americans. The only thing he understands is milking the country for his cronies.

17. Well chuckle nuts, understand this.....
I am weary of you using the deaths from towers collapsing, plane crashing, pentagon smashing to advance your agenda world domination. I am disgustd at the continual puppet show of you and jesus being good buddies to advance your agenda of hate and divisiveness. I am more than ashamed, that under your misguided, coke addled, alcohol pickled brain you had my country invade two countries that never threatened me or my family; then you presided over the murder of hundreds of thousands of people because they are there and we are here. I weep and lament the murder of native sons, daughter, wives and husbands because of your agenda of lies, distortions and half truths. I am appalled at the wanton destruction of a Constitution I was taught to respect but you used to bully your way into a presidency you have not earned nor deserve.

You do not understand ANYTHING about a future you have obscured w/ your inability to lead or govern. You understand NOTHING of the fear I hold in my heart for all our children....Or the dread I feel at the thought of my children having children in the dark future your policies have assured.

I understand you have a black heart and no soul worth saving.

21. What's with only "the print" media interviews, lately? He's still trying
to appear engaged, while not making any primetime addresses or having any press conferences.

I guess some WH genius (Snow?) is trying to filter him because they got word that his face and words together on television piss off most of us Americans.

It's the eternal dilemma; how to make the naked guy appear dressed. MKJ
