Secret Service Logs Show 2 Abramoff Visits
http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20060510/ap_on_go_pr_wh/bush_abramoff;_ylt=AioRSTETFu8I5mUA9rVZQems0NUE;_ylu=X3oDMTA3OXIzMDMzBHNlYwM3MDM-

WASHINGTON - Secret Service records made public Wednesday show just two White House visits in the past five years by convicted lobbyist Jack Abramoff. He stayed a total of 63 minutes, 29 seconds.

The documents are, by the White House's acknowledgment, an incomplete accounting of Abramoff's meetings with administration officials. They were released in connection with a lawsuit by the conservative watchdog group Judicial Watch, which had been seeking the records to determine the frequency of Abramoff's contacts with President Bush and others in his administration.

Abramoff spent just over a quarter hour at the White House on March 6, 2001, and almost 45 minutes there on Jan. 20, 2004, the Secret Service logs indicate.

A letter accompanying the logs indicates that the two meetings were all that could be found after a computer-generated search.

10. Very interesting
This places the Abramoff scandle in a whole new light. Previously it seemed that there was no real conection to any of the illegal activities that went up as far as the WH. With information already made public it is known that at least 211 trips were made to the WH during an 18 month period. Of course, this would not include contacts made at the Old Executive Office Building next door, were most business at the WH is conducted. Given that routine business is held at OEOB, this is business going to the highest authority in the WH.

Now we find that the WH is engaged into hiding 1)the number of meetings 2)whom the person of interest was visiting and 3)have engaged into wiping the Secret Service logs of these contacts.

Question1: Who has the power and autority to change these logs 1)whom was visited 2)ajusting the appearance of the records.

This puts illegal activity relating to Abramoff at the highest levels and I'd say standby. Were's there is smoke there is fire. Why would incence attempt to hide inocent activity. We're back at follow the money.

Question2: What is Abramoff telling them?

Also - where was it stated that 'at least 211 trips were made to the WH'. You say that the info was already made public - do you have a link.

27. USAToday: Controversial lobbyist had close contact with Bush team
http://www.usatoday.com/news/washington/2005-05-06-abramoff-bush_x.htm

WASHINGTON (AP) — In President Bush's first 10 months, GOP fundraiser Jack Abramoff and his lobbying team logged nearly 200 contacts with the new administration as they pressed for friendly hires at federal agencies and sought to keep the Northern Mariana Islands exempt from the minimum wage and other laws, records show.

The meetings between Abramoff's lobbying team and the administration ranged from Attorney General John Ashcroft to policy advisers in Vice President Dick Cheney's office, according to his lobbying firm billing records.

Abramoff, a $100,000-plus fundraiser for Bush, is now under criminal investigation for some of his lobbying work. His firm boasted its lobbying team helped revise a section of the Republican Party's 2000 platform to make it favorable to its island client.

In addition, two of Abramoff's lobbying colleagues on the Marianas won political appointments inside federal agencies.

"Our standing with the new administration promises to be solid as several friends of the CNMI (islands) will soon be taking high-ranking positions in the Administration, including within the Interior Department," Abramoff wrote in a January 2001 letter in which he persuaded the island government to follow him as a client to his new lobbying firm, Greenberg Traurig.

The reception Abramoff's team received from the Bush administration was in stark contrast to the chilly relations of the Clinton years. Abramoff, then at the Preston Gates firm, scored few meetings with Clinton aides and the lobbyist and the islands vehemently opposed White House attempts to extend U.S. labor laws to the territory's clothing factories.

...much more...

28. Thanks... There is somewere more info placing the number at 211
I remember the article or TV peice said it did not cover vistits to OEOB or Crawford though there was reason to believe there were a number of vistis to Crawford. I've picked up bits and peices that the Marianna Islands and the Indian gambleing issue was part of the story.

My gut feeling is there is a WHOLE can of worms here.

14. So you are saying it is not the deed, but the cover-up?
I expect they are hoping they can draw this out till November meanwhile also stopping the MSM from reporting too much on the whole situation.

That means during that period he visits the WH about once every 2.5 days. That's almost 3 times a week!!!

23. Yes.. The number of vistits is what
jumped out at me on the first time I heard this and placed this on my radar. This is going to take some expertise of the inner workings structure at the WH. The Watchdog group needs to focus on whom has the authority and whom would this activity fall upon to change the records in the logs. Whom in the Secret Service, a more indipendant agency, must also posess information of these log changes.

Whom asked for records to be withheld from the court ordered release of these documents. The SS wouldn't indipendantly make this disission. Looks like back to court to the same judge to ask whom in the WH caused these records to be withheld?

31. That doesn't even include the 3 that were already confirmed-
snip>
We know of at least three visits by Jack Abramoff to the White House that aren't included in the recently-released visitor logs.

Remember that the only visits the Secret Service's records show are on January 20, 2004 and March 6, 2001.

That means these records don't account for any of the meetings the White House has publicly confirmed: Hannukah receptions in 2001 and 2002, as well as the infamous May 9, 2001, "$25,000 Meeting," of which we have a picture.

In short, the records are a joke.

34. Well, you know how on top of things this SS is. They let the Prez sit at
a publicized event in Florida when there were 3 known and who knew how many more airliners hijacked and flying about.

Oh wait. They knew exactly how many planes and where they were headed. They knew Dimson was completely safe.
