Immigration critics rally near Bush ranch
"We're in a fight to save our country," says participant

CRAWFORD, Texas – About 500 people rallied in President Bush's adopted hometown Saturday, calling for tighter border security and protesting amnesty for illegal immigrants.

"Rumble is both a noise and a fight, and we're in a fight to save our country," said Frank Jorge of Latino Americans for Immigration Reform, which organized the "Rumble at the Ranch" event in a lot near the high school football field several miles from Bush's ranch. "Hey America, are you ready to rumble?"

He and others called for Bush's impeachment, saying the president has put politics and businesses' greed above the rights and safety of American citizens.

...

Several speakers at the Crawford rally said illegal immigrants are taking citizens' jobs and health care and that unsecured borders increase the terrorism risk.

6. + construction, truck drivers, lawn & garden maintenance, etc.
As long as the job market has an inexhaustible supply of cheap labor, wages will remain stagnant. And the low-skilled native workers who are replaced by immigrants with equally limited skills have few places to turn.

8. blame is on reagan
when there were unions, non-documented aliens cd not get the jobs you complain about and the unions ensured that union members were properly trained. "right to work" was doublespeak, meaning "right to work if you accept being owned by the company".

5. At least they're talking about impeachment..
When people on different sides of issues are calling for impeachment, that's a good thing.

7. So, so true. The minutemen and the immigrants are protesting
government (read gwb) policies, albeit, hoping for completely different results.

The fact is, everyone is unhappy with the state of affairs in the country.

Can't we just streamline the citizenship process a bit, so that immigrants who want to work and live in the is country, have an opportunity to have the worker's rights and the votes that come with that citizenship?

That seems as if it would do away with a lot of cheap labor, since employers would be forced to pay at least minimum wage and worker's compensation and politicians would need to listen to the working class of our country, once again.

9. They have taken jobs from blacks and other construction workers
in the area where I live and they have taken jobs where greedy contractors hire many Latinos in their landscape firms and underbid small businesmen. Its the businesses fault, but helping the businesses by bringing in more illegals will only hurt all legitimate citizens.

THE GREEDY CORRUPT OLIGARCHY IN MEXICO IS RESPONSIBLE FOR HARMING ITS CITIZENS AND BUSH SEES WHAT THEY ARE DOING AND WANTS IT HERE. MEXICO NEEDS A REVOLUTION.
