Cheney says terrorists still threaten U.S.
Associated Press

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – Vice President Dick Cheney said Monday the United States remains under threat of terrorist attack and warned against complacency about enemies who he said were weakened but still lethal.

Cheney, speaking at a fundraiser for Republican Sen. Jim Talent, defended progress in Iraq and the war on terror and painted Democrats as soft on national security.

"It seems more than obvious to say that our nation is still at risk of attack," Cheney told an enthusiastic crowd of more than 100 Republican supporters who paid between $250 and $3,500 a head for the buffet reception at a Springfield hotel.

"Yet as we get farther away from Sept. 11, some in Washington are yielding to the temptation to downplay the threat, to back away from the business at hand. That mind-set is dangerous," Cheney said.

My first thought is the only "real" terrorist attack on the US has been an ongoing one since Selection 2000.

Have I mentioned lately how much I despise those people?

3. So gee, he & bush aren't doing a very good job, are they. The largest
terrorist attack on US soil happens on their watch. Then they launch 2 invasions & cause -so far- the deaths of over 2400 Americans. OBL is still free as a bird -while we are less so.

And now the bastards say we're not safe.

And dear cheney the dick, please stop standing on the corpses from September 11. Thanks. MFer.

Ghoul that he is.

I wish every time Oily Dick talked about this alleged pre-9/11 mentality, someone would bring up Russ's comment that this administration has a pre-1776 mentality.

We will never be safe with these asses of evil in power.

6. Not sure I understand
So Dickchain says that terrorists are "weakened but still lethal."

How have they been weakened, exactly? Has the leadership of Al Quaeda caught Bird Flu or something. Have they neglected to work-out and lost some muscle tone? Has their mental resolve been sapped by listening to too many Neil Diamond albums?

Whatever, the reason for the enfeeblement of the terrorists, it certainly isn't the result of anything BushCo has done.

I mean honestly..please give me a break. Are they all going to get out their plastic and duct tape too? God. You know the states that were most effected by 9/11 didnt vote for bush in the 2004 election, we learned first hand how incompetent bush /cheney are.

But seriously how could there not be a threat with idiots like bush and cheney running things? Ports open, Borders open, Nuclear facilities left unprotected, A Department of Homeland Security thats a sad joke....imagine an epidemic with these nitwits at the helm? And yet they cry about 9/11, exploit it every chance they get, but as far as securing the country...the have done nothing in 5 years. Maybe I should be afraid, its just that I'm so damn pissed.

from to any possible attack from Islamic fundamentalist terriss, but the Christian fundamentalist terrorists in our government scare the shit out of me. They have to scare everybody, so there's the PATRIOT Act II for those of us who don't believe in their War On Terra. That, along with the revived specter of nukular war, scares me plenty.

OMG ... how could anyone even eat their food after the dark lord Darth Chrashcart delivered such news? I'm surprised that people weren't killed because, I imagine, a stampede for the door happened so they could get home to their precious Republican Family values and duct tape up their favorite room. But, I suppose if you spend between $250 and $3500 a head to listen to these screwballs, there no such thing as a dogie bag.

but nobody in the Bush White House took it seriously then. The hookers in New Orleans were Ashcroft's top priority at that time. Oh, that's right......9/11 changed everything. We must live in constant fear of attack and put all of our faith in the people that let it happen in the first place. Makes sense to me! :sarcasm:

24. Whether terrorists threaten the U.S. or not is quite beside the point.
The point is that it is becoming painfully clear that these bozos are certainly not going to protect the people adequately.

And so if security is an issue, the government really has to change.

26. Basically Cheney is like the Mob with their protection racket
You pay up and kiss the ring or you get KILLED. Think about it, show up in a red state, collect the money, scare them a bit then drive off in an expensive car.. Tony Suprano couldn't have said it better, nicer guy of course..

SOFT on Security? Yeah, that guy you SHOT IN THE FACE was pretty soft, except where the buckshot didn't penetrate the bone, like in the skull.. weakened but still lethal? Yeah, like that guy you SHOT IN THE FACE, still sitting around healing, but one day he just might have one drink too many and decide to even the score :)

I just want Cheney to tell the driver to pull over, he's gotta take a piss and then have him walk into a Microwave Exhibition without realizing it. Is that too much to wish for?

36. CHENNEY IS A REALTHREAT!

I think of all people in the world to speak of a threat to america;mr cheney should be in the rear of the line to speak.
this is the man who pushed "iraq" as trying to get uranium cakes, helped to out wilsons wife because wilson proved this false. he is one of the main reasons we got involved in a ground war with "iraq". I think if there is any justice and honor left in this country this man will go to his grave in utter shame. along with many of his cronies.
this is the same man who made an oil deal with "iran" in the late nineties when america had a not to deal with policy against "iran". he was C.E.O.of halliburton, and they skirted the rules with the off shore office.(his attitude has not changed) it's F.U. as it always has been. which by the way has been his attitude all his life.steam roll over your opposition. well he's never had a real adversary and i think its time he had one.(the people)
his strong suit has always been "skirt the law" its for losers. he's the "godfather" of this administration. he was the main figure to assemble this administration. IN plain english he's the bag man for the oil cartel.
