WaPo: Thousands of Protesters Rally for Immigrant Rights
By Bill Brubaker
Washington Post Staff Writer
Monday, April 10, 2006; 7:30 PM

Tens of thousands of protesters, many chanting "USA" and " Sí, se puede," rallied today in Washington for immigrant rights in a boisterous demonstration that Latino organizers hope will lead to a permanent movement.

The rally on the Mall -- a venue that was the stage for other social movements, such as civil rights for African Americans in the 1960s and opposition of the Vietnam War in the 1970s -- comes as Congress is bitterly divided over how to deal with the nation's 11 million illegal immigrants. Organizers said they were confident today's event will boost the political capital of the nation's largest minority group.

1. tens of thousands
Does that mean 100,000+ or are they already downsizing the euphemism so that it will become thousands then many hundreds, etc?

Nationwide there are millions but since they can count that no more comfortably than poor Katrina victims we'll never get a glimmer.

Naturally anything affecting an entire group in such stark terms, especially one used to grass roots response is going to be huge. I am waiting for ALL the constituencies * has ticked off to have an awakening and get all together and overthrow the whole mess. The anti-war movement, gay activists, the woman's movement, the blacks and civil rights, Labor, seniors, Conservatives, Democrats, Scientists, farmers, kids screwed by NCLB testing, voting activists, concerned military personnel and families, government employees past and present, and anyone not drugged out by Corporate TV and radio and cults.
