National Review urges Harris to drop Senate bid
April 10, 2006

By The Associated Press

The conservative magazine National Review urged Republican U.S. Rep. Katherine Harris to get out of the Senate race against incumbent Democrat Bill Nelson, saying she can't win.

"Many Floridians simply refuse to support her," the publication said in an editorial released Monday. "In February, a GOP poll of likely voters found her to have a favorable rating of just 35 percent and an unfavorable rating of 45 percent. Those numbers are fatal."

The publication said Harris should step aside and let another Republican try to beat Nelson, who it described as "a colorless career politician."

Harris has also been urged by others in the GOP to step out. Her original campaign staff gave her the same advice, then quit when she refused. Harris has pledged to spend $10 million of her own money on the campaign. Last weekend she refused to talk about money and staff issues while greeting supporters in central Florida.

Wouldn't it be nice to see Katherine take revenge on all these people who are out to get her and finally spill the beans about the 2000 election? Come on Kathy, you can do it? You'll feel so much better if you do.

I would love to see her cause trouble for the Repugs, and get real talkative about the 2000 election. What's she got to lose? They've abandoned her.

4. It would be a dream come true but only if...
...she can produce evidence. Otherwise, she would be branded as a woman scorned, an hysterical shrew, etc.

3. Her poll numbers sound like B*sh's
"In February, a GOP poll of likely voters found her to have a favorable rating of just 35 percent and an unfavorable rating of 45 percent. Those numbers are fatal." Does that mean National Review thinks B*sh is fatal and ought to bow out? His unfavorable numbers are even higher than hers.

5. I'm thinking she might drop out of the Senate race and open up one of
those crocodile-wrestling places down in Florida City.

You know -- give something back to the community.
