Army recruiting below last year's levels
Army recruiting below last year's levels
Mon Apr 10, 2006 7:29 PM ET

By Will Dunham

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Halfway through the fiscal 2006 recruiting year, the U.S. Army
has netted 737 fewer new soldiers than at this point last year, when it went on to miss
its annual recruiting goal for the first time since 1999.

The Pentagon on Monday released its latest recruiting data showing that from last October
through the end of March, the Army netted 31,369 recruits, compared to 32,106 at this time
last year.

Army officials have said recruiting has become more difficult because of wariness among some
young people and their parents about enlisting during wartime, as well as a growing economy
offering more civilian job opportunities.

"The Iraq war has damaged the Army's relationship with its most important recruiting target
-- not the 18-year-old but their mother. That's been the real issue. And mothers are hard
to convince," said defense analyst Daniel Goure of the Lexington Institute think tank.

6. Pick some "low hanging fruit" from the tree
Its the cold mirror test again

SLAP a cold mirror on the rustics's nose.

If it fogs up ------ give them the oath of enlistment.

LOL

4. Just like the members of the NYSE.....
lower their goals then MEET THEM! The stock shoots up because they MET their goals! What a sham. Lower the original goals then blow your horn because you meet them. :puke: But the sheeple never realize this, they think the goals have been met and everything is peachy-keen! :eyes: Creative accounting is still alive and well in military recruiting as well as Wall Street.

5. Creative Accounting Doesn't Work So Well When ** Calls for MORE TROOPS
to put down the civil war in Iraq and invade Iran and
generally be the WarpedResident.

…but the barracks are empty.

7. That's why Iran will be....
"a precision air war" (like there's any such thing), similar to "shock and awe" without troop deployments afterward. Another failed strategy that they'll undoubtedly put into practice thus digging America's hole deeper still. The "war president" wants to go down in history as being the jackass that started WWIII. He thinks it's a noble cause though, which is what's REALLY frightening! :scared:

Maybe that is the freeprers' explanation for not enlisting.

Rimjob and all those losers can't sign up because their mommies won't let them!!

10. Dad's not letting 'em join either.
Five years ago, I would have given my unreserved endorsement of National Guard service as a way to pay for college while giving back to the community. You could sign up at 17, and be almost finished with your hitch by the time you earned your bachelor's degree. No more. I'd rather take a second mortgage, a second job, or go back to dialup internet.
