4. It is all one big photo op
and is the brain child of Karl Rove--a la Reagun--except Georgie Porgie puddin pie cannot ride a horse with her majesty--which we Muricans think is rather an amusing tradition--this kings and queens stuff, doncha know.

He is going there for photo ops--period. He is going there so that it will be recorded and those record will be in forever in his "library". Nevermind that he did not really win the election--all that is photo op all that is propaganda is what matters. The reall stuff of diplomacy and the realy running of the country--err, I mean the reall running of the wars, is up to person supposedly more intellegent than the little rich boy whose daddy was once , also, a failed president. LOL--and he will go on and on with these photo ops, no matter how much it costs anyone--all that matter is the IMAGE!!

Oh how really puny he looks.

5. I think he should cancel the trip. I guess he can't because if he
did, it would be seen as weakness. They would say it was for security, that they had uncovered some plot. Which may be true, but the rest of the world will see it as a victory for the people.

Of course it could be good old home grown arrogance.

6. 3 out of 4 feel war on terror is making planet safer
BUSH OFF - POLL REVEALS BRITS FURIOUS AT VISIT COST

Nov 14 2003

By David Seymour

- ALMOST half of Britons believe George Bush is threatening world peace rather than helping bring it about.

- And as the US President prepares for his trip to Britain next week, many insist they don't want him here.

- Three out of four feel Mr Bush's war on terror is making the planet less safe as renegade groups hit back in retaliation.

- A Mirror/GMTV poll also found 75 per cent of people were furious at the £4million cost of security for his state visit

- Only 27 per cent of those quizzed yesterday believe the partnership (with Blair) is good for Britain while 38 per cent say the opposite.

- 64 per cent say it is wrong for protesters to be kept away from the President and voicing their disapproval of the Iraq war.

~snip~

ICM interviewed 509 adults, the results were weighted to the profile of all adults.

Thirty per cent say he is the worst president the US has ever had and nearly half believe he is a puppet of big business in America.

Why do the British seem to understand this so much more than we do? Could it be that their press is more free than ours?

18. I think you'd get similar stats in fair American polls, honestly
> Thirty per cent say he is the worst president the US has ever had

Really, I'm pretty sure there's a solid core of American liberals (and even some conservatives) who believe this. I'd wager between 25% and 30%.

> nearly half believe he is a puppet of big business in America.

It's probably about the same here, certainly at least 40%.

What we unfortunately lack is the 90% who think bush shouldn't visit us.

19. Our press is more free than theirs, and that's the problem
The are free to lie wth impunity, to be blatant advertisers for their corporate interests. Networks are more profitable as PR departments for the interests of their parent corporations. If you can push a president that will cut your taxes dramatically, even go to war to give you more profit, you can make a lot more money than simply reporting the truth-- which is generally antithetical to the interests of the Republicans and their owners, um, donors.

Seriously, has any president--hell, any leader in recent memory--had this much security following his every move? I bet even Hitler didn't have this many people following him around. No, the only way Shrub is going out before his term is up will be if he swallows a pretzel the wrong way, trips over another Sedgway, or has a bizarre golfing-related accident (I like to picture hordes of furious gophers popping up and dragging him off into a hole, a la the Veruca Salt episode from Charlie and the Chocolate Factory).

Edited on Sat Nov-15-03 01:11 PM by MetaTrope
The Schutzstaffel was formed in 1923 to serve as Hitler's bodyguard, and was expanded by Himmler in the '30s to number nearly one million men. What qualifications are expected to serve in America's own SS under Bush? In Germany, they eventually manned the concentration camps.

22. BushFacts from the Independent
Bush telegraph: selected presidential facts

In May 2001, Bush's government gave $43m to the Taliban.

Bush has never attended a funeral or memorial service for a soldier killed in Iraq.

In August this year, Bush took the second-longest holiday ever by a US president: 28 days.

Bush's 16-member cabinet is the wealthiest in US history, with an average fortune of $10.9m each.

As governor of Texas, Bush executed 152 prisoners.

Sixty-one people who raised $100,000 for Bush's 2000 election campaign have since been given government posts.

Nine members of Bush's Defense Policy Board sit on the board of defence contractors or are advisers.

Bush owns more than 250 autographed baseballs.

Bush has been arrested three times: for stealing a Christmas wreath from a hotel; for ripping down the Princeton goal posts after a Princeton-Yale game; and for drunk driving.

Bush infuriated the Russian media by spitting a wad of chewing gum into his hand before signing 2002's historic Treaty of Moscow with Vladimir Putin.

While appearing on the David Letterman show in 2000, Bush was caught surreptitiously cleaning his glasses on the jacket of the programme's executive producer, Maria Pope.

34. Oohhh, I found some interesting stuff
by digging a bit with Google.

I 'luckied' the entire phrase "In May 2001, Bush's government gave $43m to the Taliban" and found this:

http://groups.yahoo.com/group/mn-politics-national/message/403

wherein is an article Scheer wrote on Tue, 22 May 2001 detailing this Backroom Deal (sic, in this case). People, the Taliban was known as a haven for terrorism long before this, their human rights abuses were among the worst on the planet, and we gave them FORTY-THREE MILLION DOLLARS to "fight opium"???

This is the smoking gun. We all know what happened next.

The question is, were there warnings of a major attack such as 9/11 that far back in '01? Because if there were.... and * still handed the cash over....

doesn't that make him an accomplice?

36. 'Bare Your Bum at Bush' - UK'ers plan massive mooning at Bush
Edited on Sat Nov-15-03 03:51 AM by dutchdemocrat
'Bare Your Bum at Bush'

The Poster - would be better if Bush were teasing Tony's Nipple.

****

http://www.bloggerheads.com/can_weblogs/bush_bum.asp

Objective

To collectively voice our displeasure at the impending arrival of George W Bush in the UK and in doing so either sour the experience or prevent his arrival.

Background
George W. Bush has already cancelled one visit to this country because he felt more than a little unwelcome. The man is terribly secretive about state visits, but Laura Bush recently let slip that a visit to the UK is being planned sometime in autumn. Our aim is to give the man the bum's rush before he even arrives and/or show him exactly what we think of him in the finest British tradition.

Method
George Bush is unlikely to walk around the streets kissing babies because of the large number of people that wish to blow him up. However, a 'Brits love Bush' photo-op of happy crowds greeting the man may be in the offing and it's vitally important that we rob him of such a lucrative propaganda device. By attending such gatherings (by accident or design) and ensuring that you bare your buttocks as he passes by, you either render any photos taken at that moment unusable or make a very clear indication of what Britain thinks of this bigoted warmonger.

Your Role
There are several levels of involvement to suit a number of personal situations and comfort levels. They are listed below.

Baring Your Bum

If you hear of a visit to your part of town or happen to see George W Bush, bare your arse in his general direction. Don't be afraid to wiggle it about a bit and maybe even spread your cheeks; this is a political statement you're making and you don't want to do things by halves, now do you?

Threatening To Bare Your Bum

Write to your chosen local, national or foreign newspaper and inform them that you, as a British citizen, fully intend to do your civic duty and bare your arse at George W Bush. In this same letter, you may also wish to call upon other readers to do the same.

Don't wait for the official visit; get typing and do this now. With any luck, Georgie will hear of the unwelcome reception that awaits him and decide to stay at home.

A series of links to the contact pages for major newspapers appears below to aid you in your quest. If you make it to print, please do send us a clipping for the scrapbook.

Using a More Modest Approach

If you're too shy to bare your arse or have any kind of difficulty in the trouser department, you may choose instead to use the following poster and wave this in his general direction instead. Clicking on the sample below will open a large version in a new window. (If this poster is not to your taste, there is a wide selection of alternatives available at waketheworld.org)

I guess the regular Jester got sick or laid off, so Bush is going to 'SAVE THE QUEEN'!(hope he remembers his sock and his flight suit for the photo sessions) Tony Poodle is keeping a low profile these daze for some reason, kinda like Dick Cheney! If Big Tony gets fired he can always get a job at Halliburton/B&R, I'd say they owe him a favor or two!

Maybe Tony and Buckaroo Bush can ride off in the sunset together socks held high, singing 'Happy Trails' to each other all the way to the bank, while the Faux cameras keep rollin' rollin' rollin! The Moran in Cheap will do us all proud abroad I'm positive!
