More remains discovered near WTC site
http://www.cnn.com/2006/US/03/28/wtc.remains.ap/index.html

Construction workers cleaning toxic waste from a vacant skyscraper near the World Trade Center site have found more bone fragments and human remains, officials said Tuesday.

The city medical examiner's office plans to extract DNA from the latest remains to be recovered from the former Deutsche Bank building and try to match it against a database of the 2,749 people killed at the trade center on September 11, 2001, said Ellen Borakove, spokeswoman for the city medical examiner's office.

Fire Department crews had inspected the building in the months following the attacks, but construction workers clearing gravel off the rooftop found 10 bone fragments there last fall.

The new remains were found in recent weeks by crews doing a more thorough cleaning before construction workers begin dismantling the building in May, said John Gallagher, spokesman for the Lower Manhattan Development Corp.

20. The people from Katrina are not stock brokers or bond traders
They are by and large poor minorities. Ergo in the words of Cheney they are "useless mouths"

28. There were plenty of victims who were not bond traders
There were plenty of working minorities. There were cops and firemen. There were busboys. There were receptionists. There were shoeshine men. There were cleaning women. Don't let your agenda get in the way of your brain.

21. EFFORT?
They're cleaning up a building that was damaged 4 1/2 years ago. The remains have been there for 4 1/2 years.

What speed! What quickness! What compassion!

4. Finding FRAGMENTS, 4 1/2 years later ...
... but we're still supposed to believe they found a 'whole stewardess', bound, gagged and a nearly pristine passport for one of the 'hijackers' almost instantaneously ?

Riiiiiiiiiight ...

I think Free Republic. If you look at those photos of the devastation - the idea that they found Atta's passport is mind scorchingly ridiculous.

27. actually the official story isn't that it was Atta's but another hijacker
somehow it just got reported everywhere that Atta's passport was found, but if you look into it it turns out that the found passport belonged to a different one of the purported hijackers.

9. Where did you hear that (about the flight attendant)?
Sounds like some of the bogus info from one of the conspiracy theory web sites.

And the only story I heard about Passports were that they came from the hijacker's luggage that was found in the trunk of the rental car in Boston, could it be the same one?

32. From the article
Investigators retrieved a pair of severed hands bound together with plastic handcuffs from the World Trade Center debris, police sources said on 14 September 2001:

Police sources said the severed hands were found on the roof of a building near the collapse site. The hands were cataloged Friday at the medical examiner's office at 30th Street and First Avenue, which is the main facility for the painful and painstaking process of identifying the dead and establishing the cause of death. Other bodies and body parts are being brought to temporary morgues.
Plastic handcuffs, often known as "Flex-Cuffs," are widely used by law enforcement agencies, particularly during large-scale protests. In recent years, airlines began to carry plastic handcuffs as a way to restrain disruptive passengers.

Another rescue worker found the body of a flight attendant in the debris of the fallen towers, her hands bound.

10. Blown to Smithereens
These people were blown up by high explosives, they did not just fall down in a collapsing building.

The remains should be chemically tested for explosive residue. Then we could really learn something from this.

19. I worked in that building for 8 years. The 38th Floor (where they just
found some remains) was a Data Center on the side by the WTC South Tower, and office space on the side away from the WTC. It was full of computers, raised flooring, cableways, air handlers, ducting, and lots of power and communications equipment. I can see that there would be plenty of spaces for remains to be hidden for several years, until they started removing all of the raised flooring panels and cabling and began the process of cleaning out underneath.

I was a Systems Manager (Assistant Vice President) on Digital Equipment Corporation VAX/VMS systems at Bankers Trust, working there from 1984-1992. I left in October; they set the truck bomb off in the garage early the following year.

26. Not surprising that remains are still being found on rooftops -
- especially smaller bone fragments. Given the degree of human destruction when WTC collapsed, I would think that carrion eating birds probably feasted and took their bounty to rooftops and similar high perches. There are probably bits and pieces of remains scattered over the roofs of all Manhattan.

Gross, yes. But true.

29. What's a few bones to a mass murder/war criminal?
Bush will probably run down to his Ground Zero Victory Site as fast as his poll number legs will let him, slide (belly first) across the mass pile of rubble and death with a bullhorn saying, "We hear you! America will not forget your sacrifice!"
