Christian Convert Said Freed From Prison
An Afghan man who faced execution for converting from Islam to Christianity has been released from prison in Kabul, the deputy attorney general said Tuesday.

Abdul Rahman was released from the high-security Policharki prison on the outskirts of Kabul late Monday night, Deputy Attorney General Mohammed Eshak Aloko told The Associated Press.

"We issued a letter saying he was mentally unfit to stand trial, so he has been released," he said. "I don't know where he is now."

3. Unfortunately for him, it isn't Bush who's after him.
Because he'd be free and safe for quite some time. As Osama (remember him?) knows well.

9. We live in a different world than this guy.
His society is not built to tolerate this kind of thing. And he is likely a dead man walking right now.

11. I understand that fully
I live in Asia. There are places that are so intolerant they make people like Falwell and Robertson look liberal and accommodating be comparison.
But, that doesn't change the fact that I was outraged to begin with. I feel a little 'holier-than-thou' outrage once in a while is good for the system.

10. That's good
As a neo-isolationist I would respect the right of a sovereign country to have these kind of medieval laws, BUT I'll be damned if one drop of American blood should be shed to prop up a foreign government that will have these kinds of laws.
