Capitol Hill slayer told victims "there's plenty for everyone"
Capitol Hill slayer told victims "there's plenty for everyone"

By Jennifer Sullivan and Mike Carter
Seattle Times staff reporters

Kyle Huff, in a 2000 booking
photo for criminal-mischief
charges in Montana.

Seattle police said that survivors of the massacre have told detectives that when Kyle Huff opened fire in the crowded house he told partygoers something to the effect of, "there's plenty for everyone."

He meant ammunition — some 300 rounds of it, police said this morning.

Two of the weapons Huff used to kill six people on Capitol Hill early Saturday were the same guns that police in Whitefish, Mont., seized from Huff six years ago after he was arrested for shooting a statute of a moose, the Whitefish police chief said today.

Police Chief Bill Dial said that Seattle police have confirmed to him that a 12-gauge Winchester pump shotgun with a pistol-grip and a .40-caliber semiautomatic Ruger handgun were used in the shootings on Capitol Hill.

Seattle Police Det. Don Ledbetter displays some of the weapons officials recovered from the scene of Saturday's massacre at a Capitol Hill house party, or inside Kyle Huff's truck. The shotgun pictured is an example of the weapon Huff used, and the handgun he used is not on display.

The cops said that weed and alcohol were present in the house, but haven't mentioned any other drugs, nor have they said if he was on anything.

12. i hate the media because they only want to spread fear
and blame the victims. they keep going on about it being 'a rave'. it wasn't a rave. it was people hanging out at a private house after a public party.

what's the point of emphasizing the 'rave'? I think it both serves to instill fear and then make people feel comfortable that some random tragedy can't happen to them unless they are doing something 'wrong' - i.e. not safe at home in front of their tv's.

13. and this
an email from a friend whose brother lived at that house. she says her brother is okay - i mean as okay as you can be when a massacre happens in your home.

"everything seems so clear to me right now. good and love were ruling that night, living for the moment, for life, for love and celebration. evil waged battle the best way it knows, senseless death and destruction and physical pain."

"well they got our bodies but they didnt FUCKING TOUCH our souls."

"i spent the weekend with my brother, with my family of everyone touched by the events...and there is SO MUCH LOVE. oh my god you cant even imagine the rivers of oozing love pouring everywhere, in response to pain, terror and loss. what an amazing group of people, what a gorgeous fucking community. there is hope and there is carrying on and there is responding to every bad thing that happens with more love, more strength, more hugs and PLUR and pie and PBR and holding just holding onto someone while they scream."

"i love you."

"without compassion, strength becomes a type of weakness.
with compassion, we fucking rule this joint. yano?"

a knee jerk fallback rationale.

he was planning to do this. probably for months. not to this particular party, but to someone. anyone.

the reports from the party say he was drinking alcohol & smoking marijuana. i doubt the pot sent him over the edge. he never argued with anyone. his cryptic statement one kid reported was "what's going on here? whats REALLY going on here?". people thought he was joking.

he wasn't. he'd had his psychotic break MUCH earlier.

head on over to the gun forum & see how gun owners wave this off as inconsequential to their rights to own as many guns as they want because they're so afraid of home invasion robberies.

http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_mesg&forum=118&topic_id=123474&mesg_id=123474

what happens more, home invasions or murder/suicides?

So what would you do, ban 12-gauge slide-action shotguns?

Had the prior charges against this clown not been dropped or plea-bargained away (from the time he shot a statue), he would have been prohibited by the Gun Control Act of 1968 from so much as touching a gun or a single round of ammunition.

FWIW, do you honestly believe you could EVER ban hunting type shotguns in the United States? If not, then proposing "ban more guns" as a solution (as some MSM types are doing) is hardly a solution, is it?

25. And no doubt..
.... that prohibition would have stopped him. Yeah, he's willing to kill people but not break a serious prohibition law like that.

/sarcasm off.

We live in a dangerous world. We can try to melt all guns, all cars (kill way more people than guns) but we're not.

Occassionally some psycho is going to do shit like this. There is absolutely no reasonable action that will prevent it.

8. Last I heard...
He had two guns on him as well as belts of shells Rambo-style, plus another gun, a machete, and a bat in his truck. When the police raided his home he had a few more guns, and what the landlord described as "possibly a grenade." The landlord had no idea they (the killer and his twin brother) had any weapons in their apartment, and was shocked when he saw the police remove items after serving the warrent to the aparently completely bewildered twin brother.

21. maybe i'm just reaaaaaallllllllllllly paranoid but..
this montana boy goes to a rave party with a bunch of guns. He spent most of his time there
standing by the refrigerator saying "what is REALLY going on here?"
was he there as a self-appointed reaper, killing us sinful liberals?

Was he upset because he didn't fit in which made him sanctimonious;
it really really creeps me out.

"She shouldn't have gone to the rave. I've never approved of those things," Thorne said. "The young kids just don't get it.

"I just hope to God she's alive," she said, crying. "And if she is, she's grounded for life."

19. I can just see how THIS is going to play out...
...look for the state Republicans to introduce the Teenage Girl Protection Act of 2006, outlawing "raves" and making it a criminal offense to serve alcohol at any party where non-related minors are present.

27. Not to worry
I'm sure at the end all the blame will be placed on guns or videogames or an equally shallow solution. BTW, if the guy had a grenade, how would he have gotten it? It's not like you can just walk into Wal-Mart and buy a box of exploding pineapples (at least not yet, who knows with Wal-Mart?).

army/navy surplus stores. They look real as long as you cannot see the bottoms where all the dangerous stuff has been removed.
