Thousands of Russian women sold to slavery abroad
http://english.pravda.ru/russia/politics/22-03-2006/77696-trafficking-0

The Russian Assembly of NGOs has announced that the level of human trafficking within the country and out of the country is so high that it threatens national security and the country’s gene pool. Two thousand cases of human trafficking were brought before the courts last year alone. Official statistics show that no less than 500 000 cases of women being sold have taken place in Russia

Experts are convinced that the worrying figures that Human Rights organizations speak of are only the tip of the iceberg. According to the UN, 800 000 women are traded each year. Russia’s role in this process is simply pitiable. Independent sources say that Russia makes up 60 000 of this staggering number.

The first thing that comes into people’s minds when they hear the statistics is that it could probably be happening in Chechnya. However, the Caucasian factor does not account for the statistics.

Who could believe fifteen years ago that in the Moscow suburbs a criminal group would be on trial for having taken young girls from Voronezh and placed them in a Moscow brothel? The girls were promised work as shop assistants. The men took the girls to the building, threatened them, took away their documents and then forced them into the sex trade.

An Omsk farmer was recently sentenced for violently beating four unfortunate girls, whom he treated like his cattle, over a number of years.

This just proves Russia has no soul and it will eventually die if it loses its children like this...Slavery is a horrible horrible tragedy...

1. Russia Has ALWAYS Been Messed Up Like You Wouldn't Believe ...
Edited on Wed Mar-22-06 06:26 PM by Crisco
Study its history sometime.

On edit: if all of these talkers really wanted to do something about human traffiking it wouldn't be that difficult. Get some young, cute, Interpol types to set up a sting. Implant them with global satellite positioning chips or what have you, and boom.

war days. My guess is also that the customers at the brothels are foreigners. I in no way condone what is going on in Russia. Trafficking in human life is growing all around the world. I wouldn't doubt you could find it here in the USA. It is as evil as war in my book.

5. My crazy, mean uncle wanted to get a "Chinese Bride" to wait
on him hand and foot last year. Fortunately, I think the whole deal fell through. Somebody was going to get screwed, and I was hoping it was my uncle.

6. My former Business partner got a Russian Bride
A beautiful women who had an English vocabulary of less than twenty words. Such business deals and the rampant exploitation of adults and children for the sex trade and porn is deeply disturbing. The decay in Russian and the Eastern Europe will have major consequences for that country and beyond.

7. Russian lawmakers--
--are too afraid to take on the Russian mob. Nothing they do will make a dent in the sex slave trade. This is a global problem that requires massive action on numerous fronts.

8. Yet I bet every city in this country has its red light district
and that a lot of the prostitutes male and female in this country start as underage runaways or throwaways. Its amazing how it goes on year after year and somehow we go along with it. The only time I can remember anything being done is way back in the early seventies when members of a black neighborhood in Buffalo got sick of white men trolling the area. They stopped it pretty fast by standing on the corner taking photos of the cars passing thru looking for action. (Off topic, but I wonder how that method would work to move the drug trade out of some neighborhoods. Probably too dangerous.) The really amazing thing is that somehow the prostitutes end up in jail but the johns never seem to get arrested.

15. In Australia the government keeps covering this up.
There is a continual stream of stories seeping out about Asian girls agreeing to come here to work, and then finding that the jobs they promised were a lie, and they are locked into brothels. For some reason the government keeps denying it happens, possibly because the politicians own the brothels.

I expect the situation is the same in America. However with prostitution there being illegal, it would be harder for anyone to find out about it.
