Europe sees more Russian gas disruptions
http://feeds.bignewsnetwork.com/?sid=a2d59111f049dcd5

European leaders are worried that Moscow's agreement to ship natural gas to China could mean another mid-winter cutoff in their heating supplies.

Earlier this week the Kremlin-controlled OAO Gazprom agreed to build two big natural gas pipelines to China and, potentially, make China its biggest natural gas company.

The deal comes just months after the Kremlin ordered Gazprom to cut gas to Europe as a way of pressuring Ukraine to accept a tripling in the commodity's price, MosNews said Wednesday. Given a lack of natural gas exploration and production in Russia to meet Russia's new commitments, European leaders fear the Kremlin's commitment to China can only be met at Europe's expense.

Analysts, quoted by the Financial Times, said that Moscow appeared to be playing Europe -- which relies on Russia for 70 percent of its gas -- and China off one another.
